Question for polycode finish on CZ97
« on: December 25, 2016, 01:36:57 PM »
Hello

I'm new to this forum so i got question. On my cz97b on the end of the frame I noticed a small bubble of paint like a blister. When i scratch with my fingernail, the color came off, and i can see the metal underneath, but it doesn't look like a rust or on the sides where you can see the wear off of the gun. I keep it oiled all the time but should i be worried, or it's just a normal thing to CZ, this is my second gun, before i was having a glock 19 and I didn't have problems like this. Please help me

Someone will be along shortly, hopefully to answer your question.

In the meantime, please stop posting this question all over the forum. Thanks.

Polycoat is a sprayed on finish. There could have been a drop of oil or some other contamination on that spot where it bubbled but the metal underneath is phosphate so other than having a gray spot it is nothing to worry about. You can touch it up with some semi-gloss epoxy paint like roll bar or appliance paint but if it were mine I wouldn't worry about it at all. By the looks of the barrel bushing that is one of the older 97B's. Welcome to the Forum and Merry Christmas!

Thank you for the reply, the "scratch" ruined my day, but now it's better :) Yes it's an older model of CZ97b, except this everything was fine on the gun, it was like a brend new, i traded my G19 for this, i was litle worried about the finish of CZ so this stressed me a little. This gun suppose to be my safe queen. I'm from Macedonia and im my country we have a "little" strange gun policy, even i have a one gun if I would like to buy a new one it's difficult to take another license. I can just trade and even for that it's a long procedure. That's why i was worried abot the finish because i would like to keep this gun for years. Thank you one more time and Mary Christmas!!

I'm a new member, too, and I'm having a problem with my polycoat finish top.  when I first got my gun, about 3 months ago, the finish was very smooth and a little bit shiny.  After cleaning it and putting it away, the finish has become very dull.  It looks almost like anodized aluminum. To clean it, I used wd-40 to flush out the inside, Hoppes #9 in the bore, and then oiled it. What could cause this change in the finish?  I'm bummed. It looks like a Sig Sauer now.

It could be worse. Your pistol could look like a Glock.

I use a thin film of ballistol oil any time i touch the gun, but don't worry, as long you don't have holster wear you are fine [emoji3]. In my country we don't have a carrying license for the guns, we have a license just to own the gun, so I'm used to see guns in almost brend new condition even they are old more than 10 years [emoji1][emoji1]and I understand the feeling when you see scratch or different color on gun finishes.
