Finally...a CZ 97BD
« on: February 02, 2017, 08:27:35 PM »
Well, today I finally wrangled my unicorn!

In 2012 I shot my first CZ 97B, unfortunately it was my uncles and he refused to sell it to me.
Sadly, after not being able to immediately find one...I moved on.

Then last year I had a renewed interest in picking one up, and I decided I wanted the 97BD model.
But for the last year and change I had been unable to procure one. Bid on a few auctions, only to be sniped at the last minute.
Even had my LGS looking for one, with no luck, and they are a CZ Dealer.

I had basically given up on finding one...but, by chance I checked GB yesterday and low-and-behold there was one up for sale....and BNIB to boot!
I didn't want this one to slip through my fingers, so I bid a pretty penny for it.

...Just got the notification that I WON the auction, it did come at a premium, but I think it will be worth it!

Now the long and painful wait for my new 97BD to make it home...

I will be sure to add photos after I pick her up.

Congratulations on your CZ find. Looking forward to the pics.

Congratulations on finding a unicorn!

I bought a 97B and had CGW do the "E" conversion on it and now it is a sweet tack-driver.

As I prefer decockers to safeties, I wish that I had been able to find a 97BD.

Looking for my own unicorns as well (though different from yours). Always nice to see a success. Congrats on your successful find!

I have had my CZ 97BD now for about a year, fine weapon and  my 1911's seldom get out of the safe now days.
I am an old half blind shaky guy and even on my bad days at the range I can keep 7-8 inch group , I am talking 50-100 rounds now out to 25 yards.
enjoy yours.

Picked her up earlier today...photo does not do her justice, she is a beaut!
Can't wait to get her out to the range.

Just finished giving her a good once over...strip, clean and lube.
I have read several posts about the barrel bushings, and I have to admit this one is causing me some concern. It is super loose.
Will have to see how she does at the range, but I have a feeling a trip to CGW for an upgraded bushing and fitting is in her future.

In order to line it up with the recoil spring plug, you have to unscrew it which makes the bushing/barrel fit inherently loose. More so than my CZ's with standard press fit bushings. From the factory, my 97's accuracy was nothing special. It is fun to shoot though. I bought mine with the intention of sending it for the CGW bushing job. They actually called today to tell me mine is ready to come home. Anxiously awaiting its arrival...
