CZ97 light primer hits
« on: March 15, 2017, 06:14:54 PM »
Anyone experience this problem.  Light hits and 1 ftf    with 20 lb spring.  Removed fp block- no improvement.  Blazer brass ammo   ??

More information needed. Is this a new pistol? If not how many rounds have been put through it?

As far as i have seen this is not common in any CZ with a factory weight hammer spring. Have you tested it with any other ammo? You stated that you pulled the FPB, did you closely inspect the FP and the FP channel in the slide? Another option is to manually push the FP and see how far past he breach face it protrudes.
Will work for CZ pics! (including but not limited to all CZ clones)

Something is wrong with the firing pin, be sure and inspect it carefully checking for a radius on the end.  If it is broken (and they can do that) then it will be flat on the end.

There should be no light strikes with the OEM firing (with the exception noted above), 20# hammer spring, and FP block removed.

The fp has a rounded tip. It is 2.560" overall length. The channel looks good. The pin  protrudes about 1/2"  when dropped in without the spring  ??

Dropped the firing pin in slide without spring . Inserted 1/8" punch  through retaining pin hole securing fp in proper place.   Pushing pin forward to its stop point and the protrusion  is about .060 , plenty for a strong hit

Is the pistol new or did the light strikes start all of a sudden after functioning properly for a time? If you have not already counted the ammo out as the cause it may be worth while to test the pistol with another ammo type. I believe that it is possible for ammo with primers seated too shallow to cause a light strikes.

Pistol has 2-300 rounds through it, never looked at discharged brass until I had a ftf. Its got to  be the ammo. Will get another brand and try later today. thanks
