That is correct. They are not legal for use on a pistol, only a rifle. You have to shoot it off the shoulder to get it to work, but cannot use it with a brace. Pretty slick idea, but alas, I own a pistol, so no bueno.

I guess I'm confused.  Why isn't this legal on a pistol?  Can someone cite the legal interpretation?  ATF interpretation of a reg or actual law?

Why couldn't you use this with a brace?  The stock doesn't touch his shoulder in the demo video. Not trying to be disagreeable just curious.

Because two hands are required to use it.

Mine is a SBR. What I was referring to is it looks like during bumpfire, the stock is no longer touching the shooter's shoulder. So I'm wondering if it's hard to keep it on target without shoulder support.

Same reason you can't put a foregrip on a pistol; a pistol is a gun that can be shot one-handed. This probably converts a pistol into an AOW.

It looks like the guy in the video is able to keep it pretty level.

As soon as I get one I will give full video already cleared the use of it at my local indoor range. The 2 employees asked to be notified when I bring it as they want to try it.
