Just Picked Up My New Shadow2
« on: March 22, 2017, 03:49:08 PM »
I just picked up my new Shadow2 (polycoat) from the lgs. I am very happy with mine. I don't have gages, but I'm guessing mine has a SA pull around 3lbs and the DA may be somewhere between 8-9lbs. Compares favorably to my S1 with a 13lb trigger spring and RP trigger spring. The SA trigger pull is also very good, with a slight amount of takeup and very little creep leading to a fairly crisp break. The reset is very nice. I know there has been some talk of grittiness in the trigger, but mine is not gritty at all.

I'm happy with it the way it is straight out of the box. I bought mine stock from CZC and they included a target, with actual bullet holes, that all the rounds of the group would fit into a 1.150" circle - although they don't say at what distance (I'm assuming 25yds, but don't know for sure). If I measure center of bullet hole to center of bullet hole, the grouping is under one-inch.

I really like the way it feels in the hand. The mags drop freely - I'm digging the extended mag release (for the moment). The mags say 9mm on one side and .40 on the other. I guess that means there will be a .40 cal S2... I'm going to clean and lube it up and then run some rounds downrange at the first opportunity.

Nice; congratulations!  I am glad to hear another positive S-2 vibe.

FWIW, the 17-rd mags for my 75 Shadow line are also labelled for both 9 mm and .40 cal.

Well, I just got it cleaned up and lubed for a range trip tomorrow. I would have shot it tonight, but Wednesdays is father-daughter movie night with my oldest. Our luck, the movie was sold out though (had I known I could have started the break-in process with the S2 tonight).

Surprisingly, the S2 wasn't very dirty or completely drenched in CZ's famous anti-rust preservative. Even the mags were clean and dry. It's got me wondering if CZC cleans them up before selling them. I'm not complaining, it made the job go fast.

I've been sitting here fondling this beauty and it seems very well balanced and not so heavy as I thought it would be. I love the front and back strap checkering and the overall feel and natural point-ability of my new Shadow2.

Got mine today at my LGS also from CZ Custom.  Very impressed.  A real beauty.  This is my first CZ--quite a few SIGs in my stable.  But totally impressed with the fit and finish of this gun.  Looking forward to some range time.

Congrats, agreed with how clean it was when I first picked it up. Shot fine right out of the box. I cleaned it up today to remove some of the excess oil. Easy job.

I had the same comment on balance and the checkering in my thread. Just amazing.

You guys that have them already, how do you think the grip feels overall compared to a SP-01. Would you say it's bigger, smaller the same? I believe it's wider but smaller front to back at the top of the grip, just wondered how that translates to the feel of it?

Thanks,JH

If there is any difference, it maybe feels barely wider, but the overall grip actually feels better than the SP-01. And that's saying a lot, since I love my SP-01.  I guess it is possible to have two loves at the same time after all! LOL

It definitely feels a little different - in a good way. I feel like my hand is higher up on the gun in a more secure grip, probably due to the checkering, but the reach to the trigger seems very similar to my SP01 Shadow. I like the flush-fit 17-round magazines - improves the overall look of the pistol.

I'm so embarassed. I grabbed the wrong box and threw it in the car so I could go shoot after class today. I didn't notice I had the wrong box until I got to the range and hung my first target. When I went to pull my brand spanking new S2 out to shoo, t something looked strange - it was my 75 BD Police!

Tomorrow I will try again...

Yeah, it is mean, but only myself to blame. I put in a 13# hammer spring and an extended firing pin in the S2 and it now feels as good as my SP01 Shadow, which I did nothing to besides a 13# HS and EFP plus a lighter recoil spring.

I just got back from my first range session. I put 180 rounds down range thru the S2 without a hitch. Very accurate. Recoil was about the same as my Shadow1 - I read one post where someone said S2 recoil was worse than S1, but it doesn't seem to be the case with my S2 anyway. My only complaint is the same complaint I had with my S1 and still have with my P01 and SP01 compact, and that is that the slide stop digs into my thumb joint near the palm of my weak hand while shooting. I solved this on my S1 by getting a Rami slide stop.

My final opinion - I like it, I like it a lot, I like it a whole lot. Did I mention that I like my new Shadow2?

It makes no sense that the S2 recoil would be worse than an S1 considering it weighs so much more. 5 more days til I fly home and get to shoot it!

I agree. The only thing I can figure is maybe a difference in recoil springs between the two this person shot caused the S2 to bounce around a little differently.
