Clip on Holsters
« on: August 28, 2018, 11:07:19 AM »
Just Curious .. Does anyone use clip on OWB holsters anymore? In the 90's all the holsters I made pretty much had clips or a loop but I think clips fell out of style. A local swears by them and ordered several. I just didnt think there was any interest in them anymore.

So those meant to be worn OWB Back when I had the stomach for it I used to like to carry IWB cross draw and I liked that style clip because they stayed in place very well. I never tried one outside though.

The clips on those holsters really don't look secure enough for an Outside the Waistband holster.  They look like inside the waistband to me.  I had a few similiar holsters in the '90s which were definetly IWB and liked the quick slip on ability they offered.

Some of the padded nylon holsters had a single metal clip like that to attach them to the belt.

I have been known to remove the clip, insert on the other side of the holster and then wear it IWB.

I've never been comfortable wearing an OWB style holster except for the Roget's pancake holster I carried my Colt Combat Commander in back in the early to mid 80's.  I also tried the cross draw holster for the Colt but ended up putting it on my back, the few times I used it, vs. in front.

If I was going to open carry a pistol (except here at my house/property) I'd be carrying a rifle, too.  Easier to butt stroke someone trying to lunge for your pistol than to wrestle with them.
I just keep wasting time and money on other brands trying to find/make one shoot like my P07 and P09.  What is wrong with me?
