Shadow Tac II or SA
« on: April 22, 2017, 06:10:34 PM »
Ladies and Gentleman,

In the market for a competition pistol and am considering two different routes:

Shadow Tac II or a 75 SAO model after being sent off to CGW for some parts and pieces.

I don't mind paying the money for the Shadow if it's worth the cost, they run in the $1200 range. The SA is less than half that at $550ish. I figure after a trip to CGW I'll probably have $300-$400 wrapped up in action pieces, grips, sights which still puts me in the $850-$900 range.

At that point does everyone still think the SA model leaves something on the table compared to the Shadow?

Thank you all for the help.

Don't have the shadow but do have an all gussied up 75 Sao & 75 ts - both in 9mm.

CGW did the work on my 75 Sao, & by the time it was done I was up to your price on the shadow.  I find the ts is my choice for competition, and the 75 Sao is my carry pistol.

Hope this helps a little - even though there's a little apples to oranges in there.

Can't speak to the Shadow either, but I love the Trigger on my B-SA
With the right (Fully Adjustable) Trigger, you really can't beat its Single Action Break
So tell me again how Trump was worse then the 8 years before .... AND what's coming after HIM !

Not sure this is still an in the works decision but really I would just get at base CZ 75 and have the Pro-Pkg, and a 10X bushing put in for under $1000.......it will be much less than the TAC II which I've seen for upwards of $1500 at some places, mostly in the mid $1300's.  The SA style is not to my taste but many do like them, would still do about the same to the SA as the standard 75 setup for about the same cost.... ;)

Thank you for the reply, I ended up picking up a SA model for $500 shipped to my FFL last week, the price and availability pretty much made my mind up for me.  I'm glad I went this route, I like the frame of theSA model vs a standard B a little better. Bring on the upgrades now, I figure I'll be into the weapon when all is said and done for around $800 and have one heck of a shooter on my hands.

I have 2  CZ75's that I upgraded with cgw parts. Last week I went to the NRA in Atlanta, checked out 3 shadows, 2 were OEM  from CZ the third a CZcustom one. Both of my cgw reworks were smoother and had a better triggers.  You made the right decision. Lots of ways you can go with the cgw parts, but the cgw hammer is the key part you need to have. Parts are not difficult to install if you have some mechanical ability. Want more info about mine, just send a pm
