light strikes after hammer swap
« on: February 18, 2018, 03:45:51 PM »
hey all - I just installed a czc competition hammer in my sp01, along with czc SAO trigger - I have been running the cgw extended firing pin and lighter spring, 10# recoil, and cgw 12.5# main spring.  before today with the stock shadow hammer I was getting a light strike on freedom munitions 147gr 9mm once every few matches - I guess the main spring may have been right on the edge of too light. Today midmatch (with the new hammer) I had 4 light strikes.

I'm guessing the comp hammer is a bit lighter than the stock hammer and I need to up the main spring weight a bit.... can anyone share some wisdom?

Nothing at all wrong with the CZC Competition hammer.

You need a heavier hammer spring.

Only things to really check are, is the hammer flush to the slide where it contacts the firing pin (gun unloaded of course) when pushed formard manually to simulate hammer falling completely, if not is the slide not forward enough during lockup to hinder the hammer coming completely forward....if all those are good, I would also say a stronger hammer spring is needed as well.   ;)

I would agree with the heavier hammer spring. Being the gun is SAO the trigger pull isn't really going to be affected.

That 10# recoil spring may not have enough umphf...
A heavier hammer spring can push the slide home and fire the gun...
