Anybody makes/sells a lightened Scorpion hammer spring?
« on: September 05, 2017, 09:20:38 AM »
Want to ask if anybody makes or sells a lightened CZ Scorpion hammer spring for trigger pull weight reduction. I have installed a HBi spring kit on my carbine and with some polishing the weight is 4.375 lbs. Mainly use the carbine for competition in the PCC division. Thanks.

Im not a gunsmith.

From my understanding on the way the trigger pack is constructed, there are a lot of areas for improvement everywhere.  I tend to avoid reducing the hammer spring as much as possible to prevent ignition issues. (I had a lot of issues with an AR hammer spring lightening trial once).

It seems to me that having a competent gunsmith go in and polish all of the surfaces for the trigggrpup is the next step after changing out he trigger spring, pins, and trigger on the EVO. I bet they can shave a pound or two. If you have done that, you may be at a plateau.

ETA: of course, there is the CZ Custom trigger pack that has far less play and is adjustable for takeup. That could also be a good next move for you.

(Personally, i am more intered in a binary trigger option.)

Doesn't the hammer spring help hold the bolt closed upon ignition? Remember, its a blowback gun, not a gas gun.

Thanks for the replies, already looked at the CZC Trigger pack before, but right now I'm happy with the HBi springs and DIY polishing. If I could reduced the trigger pull weight to around 3.5 lbs, it would be perfect. As with the light strikes, I use ammo with soft primers for competition to help prevent that. Hopefully HBi or CZCustoms will come up with one.

Have you cut the nose of the disconector back, (a hair) and removed some from the crest so that it engages the back of the hammer less?  This will reduce the amount that you need to compress the disconnector spring - and how much that stacks into the pull.

That could very easily be your half of a pound without dicking with ignition.

You can easily fatigue a spring to reduce it's output slightly by over/ under clocking it to it's desired orientation.  I did this with the trigger return spring.  (I crushed it) And it pulled weight out of the pull instantly.  Wind past it's at rest position until it relaxes slightly so that it reduces the amount of stored energy when it is at rest.  Obviously be careful.
