T-100 barrel bushing
« on: May 21, 2017, 01:27:13 PM »
My barrel bushing fell out of my Tristar T-100. The company sent me a replacement. I don't have any experience with this. The bushing does not slide all the way in. I was wondering if anyone can point me in the right direction of how to install the bushing?

Tristar sent me a relacement bushing for my P-100 (same bushing as the T-100). You need to align the roll pin bushing slot to the slide hole as close as possible. If you don't do that, you'll never get the new roll pin in all the way. I aligned the new bushing and just banged the bushing in by grasping the slide and hitting  it against a 2x4. I wound up sending my slide back to Tristar for them to finish installing the new bushing because I couldn't get the new roll pin in all the way. If I had to do it again, I would have done the same installation, but this time I would run a proper sized drill bit through the frame and newly installed bushing before attempting to install the new roll pin.

You can send in your slide, barrel and recoil spring to Tristar via USPS for $5 since the slide is not considered a firearm.

put the bushing in the freezer for a few hours.

ensure that the pin is completely removed from the slide, check for any burrs and remove.

press bushing in (using a small plastic or rubber hammer might help) ensure that the pin slot is lined up correctly. drive pin back in place.
I might know what im talking about....but today, I don't.....

I froze my bushing before putting it in, but it still requires a hard rap to get it in all the way. Aligning that bushing roll pin slot is almost impossible to get perfect. That's why I would use a drill bit to make sure the hole is aligned properly.

drill bit or a hardened punch as a sort of slavepin

If the bushing came out chances are that the cross pin did too or it is broken. Did you get a new front sight/bushing pin also?
