P01 Owners...
« on: May 17, 2017, 11:55:16 AM »
Who also have P07s:  How does the P07 handle in comparison in shooting?  Recoil?  Muzzle flip? Ability to stay on target/recover?  Decocker use?  Ability to get to slide and mag release?  Thanks.

(Local ranges here DON'T have CZs).

Good question.  I have a P-07 and the P-01 is on my very short list.

Compare?

The P07 is a little larger.  I say that because I have an Air Marshall III I use for EDC (most days) and the P01 is sloppy in it while the P07 fits tighter in it.

The P01 feels better in my hand.  I don't know why, it just does, maybe because I like my Pre B CZ 85 so much.

Why don't I EDC my P01?  Because the P07 is so much more accurate than the P01.

Can the P01 be modified to make it more accurate?  Sure.  How much money will it take to get to the same level as the stock (internal parts) P07?  I don't know and won't be finding out.  The P07 just works.

Mags. for the P01 are cheaper.  Now, my wife has a CZ 75 Compact that shoots as good as the P07, but it's sort of a "luck" think.  Buy any two pistols of the same brand, model and caliber and one of them will be more accurate than the other, or more reliable.  Guns are not identical, one to the next, so you've got to understand that.
I just keep wasting time and money on other brands trying to find/make one shoot like my P07 and P09.  What is wrong with me?

So they feel exactly the same shooting?  Slow fire - time back on target, etc?

Do you believe the mechanical accuracy is that much better on your P07?

I have a 75B Compact, 75D PCR  (same as P-01 without rail) and a gen 2 P-07. While the P-07 does feel good in my hand the metal framed guns feel soo much better like they were custom made for my hand. The accuracy of the P-07 and the steel framed 75B Compact are equal while the PCR is an absolute tack driver compared to the other 2.
Unless we mount the guns in a mechanical rest and remove the human factor we don't always get a factual read on the true mechanical accuracy so it comes down to what we feel that we shoot best.

I think clearly the ergoes of the classic CZ outclass the P07.  P07 is just too skinny.

I agree on the accuracy and a rest.  Would be nice to see it done.

What about recoil and muzzle flip, etc.?

Like Si Vis, I also have a 75C, PCR, and P-07.

The 75C and PCR cycle and settle faster than the P-07 so I'm a little faster with those than the P-07.  I feel like the PCR and 75C have less flip and rise, but that could just be the faster cycling that's giving me that impression.  Overall felt recoil is similar across all 3 but the timing is different.

If I was going for absolute precise groupings in slow fire, I'm a little more accurate with the P-07.

Of course, this will all be pretty dependent on your grip and how you shoot.

I have both and seems the p01 has a bit more felt recoil than the p07. Could be me though.
My p07 is stock urban gray and p01 is drill cgw kit with bushing

The P-07 is nice in my opinion but the P-01 is what I reach for more times then not when deciding between the 2.
Some of you guys must be amazing shots to be able to definitively say one gun in your hands is definitely more accurate then another.
I am just not that good. For me on some days one is better then on other days. I think the P-01 is more accurate and I am sure it is because I like it better.
Muzzle flip and felt recoil are also things I attribute to how I am handling the gun. If I get too much muzzle flip on a gun I will work on my
grip until it is manageable. Ammo, shooting conditions, too many things effect muzzle flip for me. Felt recoil in my humble opinion is always less in a steel gun especially one with a rail, once again that could just be my mind making it so but it is always that way for me. The handles on the gun effect the felt recoil for me as well. The P-07 has nice grips the options for the P-01 are almost unlimited.

Sorry for the long winded reply, in a sentence, I like the P-01 better and find it equal in accuracy and much more comfortable to shoot.

Wandering if someone would compare the p 10 c to the other compacts and po7

Gents:  Thanks for the feedback thus far.

How would you compare using the slide stop OR the mag release on these guns?

My P07 is a .40 S&W and I shoot 135 grain Nosler hollow points on top of a less than max (but still ass kicking) load of Blue Dot.  It's about like shooting a .357 magnum.  Lot's of bang, lot's of muzzle blast and the empties bounce off the roof of the range's overhead cover and end up several tables down from me.  I tend to not shoot it unless I can get the left side of a table where I can bounce the empties off the screenwire "wall" between the tables.

So, no idea about how it compares to a 9MM P01 or Compact.  It's been more reliable than the P01 (P01 had some failure to feed issues early on that polishing the feed ramp seems to have cured) and it's the one with the RMR on it (RMR's and DP Pros fit the wide slides on the P07 and P09 and look so much better than a dot sight on a CZ 75 slide - hang over the sides too much).

I just keep wasting time and money on other brands trying to find/make one shoot like my P07 and P09.  What is wrong with me?

I love my P-01; perfectly balanced between my CZ RAMI BD and SP-01 Tactical. I've often said if I could only have one CZ it would be a P-01; but thank goodness I can have several DA/SA decocker CZ's to fill different purposes. So, I just got CZ number 4; a P-07 Urban Grey Suppressor model to mill slide and make a dedicated optics gun.

The P-01 is a hard act to follow; as it fits my hand beautifully and I shoot it well.

Others have already weighed in on the accuracy of the P-07 vs P-01 and I'm still breaking my P-07 in.

Just a few initial impressions that might help:
So far I've settled on 'M' for my M/L hands. Back strap adjust-ability is a +
I love the stock rubber grips on the P-01 and I don't really like the P-07's stock plastic grips, so I'm planning to add a Talon grip wrap which has worked well on my other polymer guns.
The P-01 decocker is easy for me to operate without breaking my grip. I'll get used to the P-07; but that's a -
Stock suppressor night sights on P-07 a+
Threaded barrel for adding a comp a+
Mag release access for me is better on P-07 a+
Ambi Controls and reversible mag release for LH or RH shooters a+
Magazines on the P-07 also seem very well made a+
Overall feel of quality and tightness of fit and finish seems better on P-01, but I admit I'm an old school metal frame guy. P-07 really is very good compared to other top-quality polymer pistols, especially considering the price and the CZ P-07's unique omni trigger setup for DA/SA decocker or manual safety.

I'm feeling confident enough that this P-07 will be a keeper that I'm ready to send the slide out to CZ Custom for milling.
For a dedicated optics gun I believe the P-07(and it's bigger brother P-09) has distinct advantages over the P-01; and probably over most other guns from any manufacturer.
