Threaded Barrel for CZ-2075 RAMI 9mm?
« on: January 05, 2017, 10:14:22 PM »
Happy New Year everyone!

Does anyone know if a threaded barrel is available for the CZ RAMI-BD (9mm), or will one of the other CZ model barrels fit a RAMI?  I'm interested in getting a suppressor for my RAMI.

Thanks!

Sorry about using a previous post as my first, but this exact question is what brought me to the community.

Is there anything about the RAMI that would preclude fitment of a barrel that is extended enough (.375" or so) to accommodate threads for suppressor use?

The RAMI is unique to CZ's in that it uses a Glock style breach block, instead of a Browning style.
So there are no other CZ's to get a longer barrel from.
In theory you could machine one from a barrel blank, or possibly find another gun you could adapt a barrel from, but machining a barrel from scratch is a pain, and it is unlikely that any other gun with a glock style breach will be close enough to work.
You can use the same method I used to add a muzzle compensator to my RAMI.
You machine a small shoulder on the muzzle end of the barrel, and then machine an extension that slips onto that shoulder and then silver solder it on.
Not really that hard for a competent gunsmith.

Or you could use the method I used to extend a couple of 22 Long Rifle handgun barrels.
Drill out the bore of the barrel.
Solder on an extension piece and bore it out to match.
Machine the exterior of the barrel to match
Silver solder in a barrel liner, trim to length at both end and then rechamber for 9mm.
9mm barrel liners are really hard to find, but you could try Redman.
They make all of Brownells barrels liners.

I've heard good things about Tornado Technologies. I almost sent in my kadet before I sold it. $160 to add an extension and thread. Link: https://www.tornado-technologies.com/category/CZ__/CZ/1.html

Thanks for the added info!  I'll check these suggestions out.  I'm not a metalsmith, so while the manufacturing sounds neat, it's way out of my capabilities.

Hello all

Here is an update on the RAMI threaded barrel for suppressor question.  The following company will extend and thread your RAMI barrel for $160.  They have an online work order that you fill out and send with your barrel.  You need to specify the thread type/zize.

Tornado Technologies
22115 NW Imbrie Drive #181
Hillsboro, OR  97124
503-690-8000

If anyone has had any experience with these folks, please let us know!

Hope this may be of help to others who might have this same interest.

I've not had any work done personally by them, but I can tell you that Tornado Technonolgy has a tremendous reputation for doing top-quality work.
