I really like to dry fire a "new" pistol prior to firing it with ammo. I like to get an idea of who well (or not) the trigger works.
After a few rounds of live ammo my finger stops just short of "bang". As long as the trigger has a stopping point. My Target Sport has a 1&3/4 lb. trigger pull and I feel that stopping point as the trigger moves to the rear. My son has a CZ 75 SA that, for awhile, was iffy on that. Sometimes I'd feel that stop as the trigger moved to the rear and sometimes I didn't. That wasn't good, in my mind.
Maybe, when you shoot it at the range, your finger and mind are working together to move that trigger rearward to it's stopping point and you're just not aware of it because you are concentrating on the sights and target.
