P10C in .40?
« on: October 03, 2017, 08:17:13 PM »
Anyone hear anything regarding the .40 release of a P10C?  I keep asking a friend at my LGS and he keeps asking his CZ rep, but the rep has heard nothing.  Oh, and the rep also says that I'm the only one asking too. :o  I thought that all the cook kids still shot .40.  They do, don't they?

  This is so last decade.

With new bullet technology they all preform the same, so 9mm is all you need.  It gives you more capacity, less recoil and faster follow up shots.

I won't knock the .40 if people like it that's cool. I personally don't own one as it would just be another caliber to load for and I just don't see it performing any better than what I already shoot. 9mm,.45acp .38/.357 mag.
Looks like law enforcement agencies are moving away from it which will move it into a more niche market like the 10mm.
The .40 was born out of the perceived need for a bigger more powerful round after the infamous FBI shootout in 1986. The 10mm got the nod but quickly it was realized the 10 was not easy for everyone to control hence S&W developed the .40.
Had the FBI realized better training and shot placement was the real issue we may have never even seen the .40 but I don't think we'll see it fade into oblivion either.

I didn't want to start a debate about .40, but was just more interested in whether or not anyone has heard any news of when they might get here.  Since getting the P10C, I've come to carry the 9mm more than I have in the past, but I still love shooting the .40s.  I have 6 CZs in .40 as well as a Glock 23, so maybe I'm the last one around who's into them, but for whatever reason, I am.  There are a lot of rounds that have fallen out of favor with police and yet are still a decent round with a solid following.  38 Special use to be the bees knees for carry until .357 Mag chased it out of service.  It matters little whether or not it's the favored round of the FBI, though, as I just enjoy loading and shooting .40s.

That's a great idea!  Funny how the simple solutions sometimes get lost.  :)

I sent the question of the .40 P10C off to CZ and to their credit, got a response within the hour.  Here is what they tell me:

Tim,

Many P-10 variants had their production timetable shift back and though we expected first delivery to be mid-year, at the moment we don't want to speculate in order to avoid giving incorrect info. When they show up on a shipping manifest from the factory, we'll have a definite date of arrival. We may see them soon, but again with this shift there isn't much speculation I can offer at this time.

In other words, until they see them on the manifest, they can't speculate on when we'll see them.  Stuff like this type of customer service is why I keep buying CZs.  I'll keep hoping to see one before Christmas, but I'm sure they'll eventually get here.  If not this Christmas, maybe the next one.
