First Tanfo
« on: December 02, 2017, 06:14:21 PM »
A few years back I decided that I wanted a 9mm witness. I still haven't acquired one, and have been kicking myself for passing on a few. During this period I've picked up a 75B SA and a 75B compact that I refurbished, so I really can't complain. Recently I started thinking about a .45 in something other than the 1911's that I have. I stopped in my local pawn shop a couple weeks back and what do I see? This bad boy, with six factory mags. The owner made me a deal that I really couldn't pass up.

It was imported in 10/'95 and, since it's an AE, I had the recall done already.
Any recommendations for an adjustable rear sight? It shoots 6" high at 30'. It looks like the previous owner used a 1911 sight with some aluminum foil stuffed under it.

Very very Nice .45 Witness!  8)  :)   Congratulations!  :)

I think you're going to be very very happy with it.  Tanfoglio did change the Magazine Release in their Large Frame Pistols to hold the Magazine up higher for enhanced feed reliability in the late 1990's and that is an item I recommend you upgrade.

LPA makes an Adjustable Rear Sight and there is a thread stickeyed above on that: http://www.czfirearms.us/index.php?topic=85884.0

Great find! I could use some luck like that!

So far I'm very pleased with it! I haven't had any feed issues in the 150 rounds I've run through it, but I'll check into that mag catch.

The dovetail on the sight in that thread is way to large. This one is closer to 3/8". I've been very pleased with other LPA sights so I'll see what they have.

A good possibility is Guns International.  Saw three the other day when I was looking for a EA9B.

jwc007 - are the mag catch parts at the bottom of this page the upgraded style you referred to? I'm thinking about ordering their fixed sight just to get it going for now (and it's cheap). Plus, I can get measurements from it before I drop the coin on an adjustable.
