P-09 DA trigger adjustment
« on: December 07, 2017, 12:39:27 PM »
Aside from either sending my P-09 to Cajun or buying the $224 Cajun Pro-Grade upgrade kit what are some options for making my DA trigger pull better?

Right now my P-09's DA trigger pull is very stagey, granted I've only had the pistol for a week and have only put about 100 rounds through it
2009 CZ 452 Training Rifle .22LR
2010 CZ 75B 9mm
2012 Czechpoint VZ-58 7.62x39mm
2015 CZ 527 Carbine .223
2015 CZ P-09 9mm
2017 CZ P-07 9mm

I just got mine too, I think I'll decide after 1k rounds to do anything to it.

I'll be using it cocked and locked, and so far I'm very pleased with the SA trigger pull.
I got a .32 gun in my pocket for fun...

The 07/09 series triggers are all over the map.  You will see plenty of videos of them in the sub-10 LB range and plenty in the 11+ LB range.  They are STAGEY by nature its just how the Omega is.  They hit a 'harder' stage about a third of the way back in DA.  Generally. the SA is better than the 75 series.

I have felt stock 09 and 07 triggers that were pretty GTG OTB.

BTW - LOTS of posts here in this forum on this topic.

Generally, I'd say dry fire the snot out of it (I use an o-ring to soften the low).  Then shoot it at least 500 rounds.  Then you can polish, or/and polish and get the Cajun GW short rest kit and 15/18 LB springs.

Read and enjoy.

Polish all of the metal-to-metal contact points as in the smooth and tune sticky

Take tension off the trigger bar sping, CGW hammer spring, and clean up the firing pin block plunger. I haven't done anything else and no sanding, my DA is very smooth and very light.

Polishing, trigger return spring and mostly the hammer spring. It's a very stout spring and you are moving it through it's entire rearward movement in D/A. They are very easy to swap out for a lesser lb. spring. If you were to get the tuners pack from CGW you will have 5 to pick from.

When you disassemble - WATCH OUT:

- you can easily lose the EJECTOR spring.
- The decocker spring is almost IMPOSSIBLE to reassemble without building a special tool. Filing a notch in a small screwdriver works fine and saves heart muscles.  Also, one end must go in the TINY hole under the channel.
- If you mess with the safety it can fall apart.  Be careful.  The detent and spring can come loose.

The polishing thread is VERY long - the first two pages are mostly what is attainable.  There is also a disassembly video linked in it - that is where I found the special tool requirement.  It is a good, but very long video.

Got my first pistol almost 2 years ago 6 months after I did I use those videos and disassembled and did all of the work involved never having handled the pistol before in my life you take your time rewind when you have to and it's not that bad.

BTW - didn't want to spook anyone about working on the gun - its just nuanced from the 75 series.

Part of my problem was that everyone said how easy the P series was, and I ended up with my gun down till I got a got an ejector spring sent to me... Just wasn't prepped to watch out - or the safety falling apart.  :)

Polish trigger bar (side that touches frame) Take the spring underneath the bar and bend it down ever so slightly.  Replace Firing pin with a Cajun competition Pin Comes with FP and Plunger spring. Take out the hammer spring and install a lighter one. If you are really ambitious . Polish the Hammer spring strut.  *Thing is once you take it down and buy all this little stuff. Your 1/2 way home on Buying the Pro Package.  A better trigger return spring as well.  *If you are even mildly mechanical the P07-P09 Series is as simple as it gets. Plus there's a series of videos from JoeMustang99 on Youtube VERY ELABORATE WELL DONE INSTRUCTIONS  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9VhXSYKxcaA&list=PL7GbOFIiTV0zywDb1XrQ2FMDvFsgCtXkF

I am mildly mechanical.  I've detail stripped stripped PreBs and Bs - my PreB with the complex safety numerous times.  My comment is not about simplicity, but with how easy it is to lose small springs if you aren't prepped.  Also, the decocker spring is a bewitch to get back in (I find it impossible) without the tool that JoeMustang shows you.  And I've never seen that mentioned except in his video.

I've taken many P09's apart . I suppose it's a good warning to watch the springs don't fly out. In reality they just don't . They really aren't under enough tension to.  The ejector spring has to physically be removed in my experience. Pretty much the same for the sear.

They can fall out - don't do as I did...  Just a heads up.  I was just surprised they did - I never found the ejector spring.  So now when I order parts, I have picked up some spares.

The extended firing pin and lighter hammer spring, polish the firing pin block plunger on it's sides, install the lighter firing pin block plunger spring and reduce the tension on the trigger bar spring.  Don't reduce it too much or you might drop to half cock during slow trigger single action pulls.

This, along with all the requisite stoning and polishing will yield some good results.  That's all I've done to my P-09 and the double action pull is very smooth and pretty light.
