Waiting to finally pick my new P-09 up!
« on: January 15, 2018, 09:10:22 AM »
I finally plunked some hard-earned cash down on a P-09 to go with my P-10c and 75B Omega!  I've read so many great stories here about their soft recoil and out of the box accuracy.  I've been looking forward to this for a long time.  Can't wait to pick it up and get it out on the range!

From all I?ve read and heard, many think they?re the softest shooting 9mms out there.  I?ll definitely be pleased if it shoots even softer than my Beretta 92a1.  That has a fairly low bore axis and it?s metal frame helps tame recoil.   Anyone have both who can shed a little light?

I recently bought two P-09's

I haven't shot a 92/m9 for a long time, and I would have bought one if I had found one at a reasonable price.

The P-09 was cheaper, and it's the best shooting pistol I have ever owned.
I got a .32 gun in my pocket for fun...

I dont think I?ve ever heard a bad word about how the P-09s shoot.  If I can put the large blackstrap on and have it feel anywhere close to how my 75B feels, I?ll be thrilled!

My P09 9MM is the most accurate semi auto pistol I've ever fired.  I've had two buddies over the years with Colt NM .45's, my son has a Beretta 90-2 and I've got several brands of semi-auto 9's, .40's, and .45's.  The P09 is it.  Only my P07 comes close.

As far as the recoil goes?  My first time shooting it was just after we'd been shooting my M&P .357 SIG full sized pistol.  We finished with the S&W and I put it down and picked up the P09 9MM.  I knew it was going off (holes in the target, empties on the ground, but (compared to the M&P .357 SIG anyway) the recoil was so light I kept having to fight the feeling that it was not firing.  That was a weird feeling.  Part of your mind knows something is happening and part of your mind is questioning whether or not it's really happening.
I just keep wasting time and money on other brands trying to find/make one shoot like my P07 and P09.  What is wrong with me?

Finally picked my P-09 the other day.  I put about 100 rounds of Speer Lawman 115 gr and Federal HST 147 gr rounds through it.  No malfunctions and it shoots the flattest and softest of any 9mm that I own.  And it?s a tackdriver to boot.  I?m sold.  Might just have to get one of those new OD green P-07s when they finally show up in stores!

Have to say I totally agree. I like my metal-frame CZ's, but last year I bought an urban grey P-07 SR to mill for a RDS and I fell in love. Added a Talon wrap to the grip and it just feels and shoots great.

Just had to buy a P-09 SR thinking I would also add an RDS, but the stock sights are so good and it shoots so accurately; for now I'm just enjoying it as-is shooting bull's eyes on 3" targets at 20+ yards.

I'm comparing to my SP-01 which is also a soft shooter, but I think because much of the P-09's weight is centered in the grip, not out on the barrel; IMHO it just feels softer with less flip.

I shot my CGW equipped P-09 in all our local bullseye matches in 2014.  This is with a Burris Fast Fire 3, 3 moa sight on a Springer Precision dovetail mount.  I had high score in many of those matches.  But the most fun I had was demonstrating how well the new (at the time) CZ plastic service gun could be shot.  I also made several 100 and 200 yard bench rest videos with that pistol.  When you can shoot a 7" group at 200 yards and a 3-1/4" group at 100 yards with a polymer handgun, it stirs people's interest.  I think I own the most photographed and viewed P-09 in the world.

The gun has been a source of consternation and disbelief by more than a few custom 1911 match pistol owners.  I love it.

I finally got to shoot my P-09 today. Rolled out to my range and knocked down a plate rack at 50 yards like it was nothing. Pistol is more accurate than I am too. This is a seriously underrated gun.

My CZ pistols are such incredible guns, it?s amazing how reasonably priced they are and what you get for your hard earned money.  It?s almost criminal how little they cost compared to other brands and the value you get in return.  And they support the LE community with even better prices.  Great company.  I?m relatively new to CZ ownership and have purchased 3 pistols in the past year after shooting Glocks and 1911s for years.  I?m a loyal convert now.  So happy to have discovered them.  And after shooting safe-action Glocks for a long time (I still appreciate them very much), I?ve come to appreciate the DA/SA design once again and how aggressive you can be on the trigger with the first DA shot.  In comparison, one has to be more careful and resist the temptation to put your finger on the trigger of a Glock before you?re on target.  For me, when on a shot timer and under pressure, I tend to cheat and often put my finger in the trigger guard too soon.

I love my P-09!

Like many, I started out with a P-07 and liked it so much that I got a P-09. I haven?t regretted that decision one bit??:)

Really enjoy your videos Joe; a real inspiration for us mere mortals!
And that gum you put on the grips looks Sooo Badass that those guys with the shiny stainless match pistols with wood grips must tear their hair out!!  LOL  ::)
