Customization Of My P-10 Almost Finished
« on: January 25, 2018, 09:12:33 PM »
To date I have installed an HBI flat trigger with 3 pound striker spring $55, Gray Guns Super Black Stainless Steel Recoil Rod with reduced load 15b competition spring $40, and Cajun Gun Works tool steel striker $48 or an investment of $143 which when added to the $460 cost of the P-10 brings my total investment to $603. My last upgrade will be tritium sights and I am leaning towards the Cajun Gun Works 018-590 tritium rear sight and the 019-425 tritium front sight for $118.95 Still checking out others though. So far I have installed everything myself which, if you knew my limited gun smithing skills, is major accomplishment for me. Its amazing what you can do by just watching a few YouTube videos. Since I don't have the proper tools, I will have my gunsmith install the tritium sights. I could not be happier with my P-10 now that I have added a few goodies to it. BTW my P-10 was a perfect fit in the custom kydex holster I had made for my Glock 19 so no holster expense for me.

How was the CGW striker install? Mine came yesterday.

Look at the video for installing a HBI flat trigger. The first part of the video is how to install the striker spring. Once the stock spring is removed you simply pull the stock striker out from the bottom and install the CGW tool steel striker. Once that is done put the striker spring back over the striker, compress the spring and add the two retainer cups. Then follow the video on how to install the striker unit back into the slide. Pretty straight forward.

Tested the trigger pull today after installing the 3 pound striker spring with the new CGW tool steel striker. Measuring 4 pounds to 4 pounds 2 ounces on my digital scale. Down almost a half pound from the 3.5 pound striker spring. Very happy with the trigger at this point. Only other upgrade with be a set of tritium sights.

Please report back if you find that you have any ignition issues with the 3 pound striker spring. If it turns out to be 100% reliable, I might install one.

Best regards.

Just got back from the range. Fired 100 rounds with the new 3 pound spring and not a single issue to report. My P-10 performed flawlessly and was extremely accurate. Highly recommend using the 3 pound spring.

124 grain ammo at 7 yards.

Trigger pull has leveled off at an even 4 pounds and the P-10 is functioning flawlessly. Have decided to go with the Cajun Gun Works Tritium Sight to complete my list of upgrades to my P-10. This is by far the best striker fire pistol I have ever owned.

I?ve had the HBI 3lb striker spring installed since Dec and probably 1,500 rnds fired.  No ignition issues shooting CCI and S&B primers.  Shot 100 rnds yesterday after installing the CGW striker and no issues either.

Outstanding! Are you running the stock recoil spring?

I haven?t for some time. 99% of what I shoot in 9mm is minor power factor ammo that I load for USPSA (125 gr bullet @ 1040-ish fps ~130 PF).  With the stock recoil spring the brass was dribbling out of the ejection port and landing at my feet and I noticed muzzle dipping when shooting fast.  So I got the CGW SS guide rod and also the 18# and 15# recoil springs to try out.

I shot a series of Bill Drills using each of the spring (6 shots at 7 yds rapid, from the holster.  Goal is all hits in the A-zone in 2 secs +/-).  My best results was with the 15# spring.  Gun shot flatter, less muzzle dip as the slide slams forward when it returns to battery and I could get back on target faster.

If somebody made a 13# spring I?d probably give that a try as well.  I dug out a 13# Glock 19 spring from my parts kit but it was too short (would not hold the slide in battery) so I didn?t test it.

Thanks I'm running the Gray Guns black stainless with the 15lb recoil spring and really like it.
