Got to the range today, put 75rds through it just to get a feel and be able to really fairly evaluate how it performed.  Immediately after the first mag I had to remind myself it was a fairly light, single stack 9mm.  Normally the smaller 9mm's have a relatively snappy recoil, this 3914 was very smooth and low recoiling...more like a quality fullsize pistol.....pleasantly surprised I have to say.  I didn't intend to shoot even that many rounds initially, but it was just fun to shoot.  Takedown was easy, reassembly was a little different.....actually had to think  ::)  a little to get it back together but shouldn't be an issue in the future, its a new gun to me and it has its own nuiances  ;)   The range I go to only allows pistols to be fired at 12 yards.....a little far for the first time out with a new gun IMO but everything I shot was hitting the dark rings (center mass) area.....and I have to add I was shooting with quicker follow-up shots, so it wasn't "target" practice type shooting all the time.  So in all, really glad to have this S&W

Had a 3913 traded it away years ago, still trying to find a proper replacement, definetly regret letting it go, very reliable pistol

Over 30 years ago, someone convinced most people and the gun making companies that single stacks were inadequate and had to be replaced with higher capacity handguns (the double stack was born).  After that the demand for single stack semi-autos in smaller calibers dropped and "new/improved" double stacks were coming out one after the upper.

The single stack guns stopped being designed/developed/perfected and many companies stopped making them (or never started making them).

Sort of like women's fashions.  Today it's old and new is better, a few years from now you can pull it out of the closet and be in style again.

I've seen (at gun shows) those older S&W semi autos a few times over the years.  Looked pretty hard at one in .45 acp one time but decided to use the money on other stuff.
I just keep wasting time and money on other brands trying to find/make one shoot like my P07 and P09.  What is wrong with me?

Since creation of Concealed Carry in most States; the Sub-Compact single stack has had a huge resurgence, but capacity has been somewhat limited to about 8 rounds +1.

Most of the plethora of new offerings have been striker fired; a few DAO, and even fewer in DA/SA. Mostly polymer.

Sig's new P365 has solved the Sub-Compact single-stack capacity issue (once the bugs are out). By using a tapered magazine; they achieve the thinness of a single stack, with capacity of a double stack in a Sub-Compact package with 10rnd flush or 12rnd extended.

I personally still prefer the extra safety of a DA/SA or DAO for EDC; and with so few quality lightweight metal-framed offerings in that class, that probably has something to do with the enduring demand for the S&W Gen 3 Sub-Compacts.

If CZ ever wanted to fill this void; the S&W 3913-14, TSW or CS9 would be a model of near-perfection.  8)

For me it?s my SIG 239. If I didn?t have one, I?d certainly look at a S&W 39xx series.
Congrats on a great find

Springfield XDE is interesting, hammer fired single stack with a safety DA/SA. Have a XDS reliable pistol carries nice, it is plastic though.

A lot of nice guns mentioned here, and a S&W alloy-framed CS9 is still on my 'wish list'.

But don't forget CZ's little RAMI BD is really about the same size at only 1.25" wide, 6.5" long, and 4.7" tall. Yes at 26oz it's 4oz heavier weight, but it has 10+1 or 14+1 capacity. And...it's DA/SA.

A nifty sidearm, but IMO a bit too chunky for pocket carry compared to say a Kahr PM9 or Sig 938; but if you want 10+ or more you've got to go double stack or.....Sig's new little P365 that's only 1" wide and with a clever new 'tapered' magazine it's 10+1 or 12+1 .

IMO third generation Smiths are probably the most underrated handgun around.  Seems people are catching on.  Availability seems much lower and prices higher.  Nice pistol you have there.

Had a 3913 years back.  Nice gun...was considered quite a small package back in the day before polymer guns showed just how small you could get a 9mm gun.

Love my G43. Around 22oz loaded, very thin, and easy to conceal. Also soft shooting and accurate for it's size

new ruger EC9s. I added a crimson trace laser [came with a blade tech IWB holster] and a set of Hogue grips [that I had to modify for the laser] 7+1. not counting the extra mag in the pic equals $370. put 100 rnds through it so far without issue. the small size took a  bit of getting used to, but I really like it so far. have a range day pic of it as well. will post a pic with the laser soon.
