Has anyone had any experiences with the newer PPK/S's?  I came across a used one at I price I couldn't pass up, so I put it in layaway until next paycheck.  Looks like it was never shot, no wear on it anywhere.  Just wondering what to expect as far as accuracy and reliability.  I wouldn't even ask if it was a German-made model, but this is a newer Smith version.  Thanks.

The new ones are apparently improved, with S&W taking some of the problems, and correcting them.   Including a longer beavertail which keeps the hammer from biting.

If you've just got to have a small calibre handgun, you could do worse.   (But a CZ-83 might be a better choice.)  Possible a Makarov...

The older PPK/S models tend to be problem-prone, and not that reliable without some tweaking.

The PPK will always have the Bond 007 appeal and mystique, but I agree with Walt, the CZ83 is a better choice, but the PPK is a legend, and also Smith has confirmed that they will make it available in all blued as well, which will make it look more like the German Polize (Police) models of days goneby.
  Another overlooked advantage that the CZ83 has over the PPK and PPK/s is capacity.  The CZ83 is 10-12 rounds, the PPK and PPKs are 6-7 rounds.  ,these are standard factory mags for both that I am speaking about.

I have an older American made (Ranger Arms) PPK/s.  It has been mostly very reliable with the exception of some of the older style JHP's, and some minor polishing of the feed ramp cured that.  In general, most are well made and accurate.  Mine is very accurate, but does not see much use, as I have moved on to compact 9mm's.  And yes, it's hammer will bite the hand that feeds it, with great regularity, if you are not careful to hold it low!

I have an old one that was imported by Interarms,  I have not shot it for a long time, but don't remember it having any problems.
  I've always liked PPKs,  they seem so well crafted,  when I rack the slide back, its a very unique feeling.  None of the PPK clones have been able to duplicate it. Its kinda like a Harley, you know its a Harley by the sound.

I owned an FEG SMC-380 clone of the standard PPK a long time ago that I loved.  Not one issue with feeding or reliability, but I'm sure I never shot HP's through it.  

I like the PPK's the single stack design, actually.  It is a thin, short handgun that I'll be able to buy holsters "off the rack" for.  I looked at 83's a while back, but didn't see it getting carried because of it's width.

I'm still pretty sure I'll get a P3AT to replace my P32 for next summer, but the PPK/S might fit that bill, too.  The belt clip on the Kel-Tecs is just too easy to use!
