Wanted to reply to this per my previous post and another thread.
I got my can paperwork back monday, brought my full length hand guard scorpion into the shop today to mount the omega 9k on it.
First, it fist exactly like it does in the vid on the first page per Mac's setup. I bought the direct thread adapter as well and everything fits perfectly, BUT with that said, its just for looks, its totally not practical to keep the can inside the hand guard because you cant really get a good bite on it to get it tight. Ive got a seat belt type strap wrench, little rubber channel locks, and some rubber hose and a pair of normal channel locks all to crank it down. Where I thought I had it tight a few times, a good wrap on it with some light rubber exam gloves I usually keep to work with, got it to spin off and come loose. So after a few more attempts ive gotten it pretty tight. Tight enough where it wont come off with my hands, but I can only imagine after a few shots it coming loose.
The answer to this issue is, which people have been awesome on this forum and informed me about on a different thread I posted, would be the HK tri lug setup, and just have it a quick attach and its tight. I feel like keeping mine inside and having to shoot some and then cool, tighten it or make sure its tight, then shoot again, ill never really get that feeling of being able to shoot it consistently and securely . Which I think what I should have done to begin with is just to get the free float setup from HBI hand guard, and put the 6.84" flat guard on. Looks tits and I should have just done it this way, but I really loved the look of that scorpion that Mac had in his vid, but for ease of practicality and safety, a tri lug or hand guard would be better imo.
