CGW upgrade kit for self-defense
« on: March 04, 2018, 05:13:58 AM »
Continuing my P07 journey, I have found a LEGAL way I could purchase the CGW pro-grade upgrade kit.
I am talking about this item: https://cajungunworks.com/product/p-07-p-09-pro-grade-package/
Presuming I am going to purchase it, is there something else I need to take into account before ordering it? Such as a guide rod (https://cajungunworks.com/product/97040-fits-p-07/) or other things?
This is a very risky purchase for me if I don't get all things right, and I'd definitely not want to have a full kit but not being able to use it because I am lacking a tiny spring I did not know was needed for completion.
I don't get this opportunity of ordering gun parts from the US legally very often, so any insights regarding this would be highly welcome.
The use of my every-day carry P07 is for self-defense (I have another one just for competitions, but I'd rather leave it stock for now), does the above-mentioned kit even fit self-defense use or is it considered a competition-only kit?
And also, does that kit make my warranty expire?
(I am going to purchase that kit regardless of the result of contacting my local CZ retailer and see how he's gonna fix my gun)
Thanks.

I have a P07 that was Cajunized by them, I carry this pistol every day. I love this pistol so much I am selling my high end Hi Powers.

I wish I had this pistol in my youth when I was chasing terrorist for a living. It is as reliable as a Glock as accurate as a fullhouse custom Hi Power with a BarSto barrel. The double action is so good that I have zero issues using the pistol this way. My duty guns in my career were first the Hi Power which was later replaced by Glocks.

To me the P07/09 is as if the Hi Power and the Glocks got drunk one night and did the nasty in the gun safe and the P09/07 is the end result.

I would also get the guide rod and a few recoil springs. I prefer a non-captured setup...

Also, yes, upgrading the gun voids the warranty. In my experience that is not an issue, though, as the upgrade parts are just that: upgrades. The CGW parts tend to be several orders of magnitude more reliable on the whole and some of the parts replaced are common causes of warranty claims anyway.

I would suggest anyone planning upgrades make sure their gun runs fine before upgrading anything. That way if there is a larger warranty issue it can be addressed first.
