CZ-50 rack effort reduction?

I'm a CZ fan, just found this forum! I have two CZ-83s, a CZ-50, and a CZ-52. Just ordered Harrington firing pins for the 50 and 52, didn't know about them until I found this forum!

I have an issue with the CZ-50 though. I originally bought it for my wife since the .32 ammo and weight of the all steel gun would mean a relatively mild recoil. But she can't rack it! I don't like carrying or having a gun in the house with a round in the chamber. The CZ-50 is relatively safe to carry that way, but I just prefer not to. Would using a lighter recoil spring, assuming one could be found, be a good idea? Maybe a variable recoil spring if one can be found? Wolff doesn't have springs for the CZ-50 listed...  Any ideas, or do I just need to look for something else for her? I just wonder why the thing has such a heavy spring when my Star BM 9mm Parabellum doesn't. She can rack that!

Thumb cock it before racking the slide, or leave it cocked but chamber empty. That way your wife is not trying to overcome the hammer spring AND the recoil spring.

Will try cocking first... didn't think about that! I am a bit concerned that a lighter recoil spring may cause issues.

Last time I looked, I couldn't find any replacement recoil springs. Maybe one for a Walther would work.(?)

Try polishing the hammer spring stalk.  That reduced the trigger pull and racking force required for mine.

Okay, I admit the word "polish" implied that the hammer stalk required minor work. Mine was pretty rough to begin with which causes the hammer spring to "hang" a bit which increases the DA trigger pull.

Of note, while researching the CZ50/70, I found where someone said that the "catalog" DA trigger pull was 23 lbs, but that many people thought it was much closer to 100 lbs.  ;)

Just cleaning up that stalk (and a little oil) made a world of difference in the DA pull and performance of my CZ70.

Just checked my vz50 & vz70. The DA is slightly lighter than my Polish P-64 pistols with stock mainspring, but the SA on the CZs isn't as nice as the P-64s.

The rather stiff DA action is, I think, meant to be a "safety" of sorts. Makes it a bit safer to carry with a round in the chamber, less chance of an accidental trigger pull. So the first shot might be a bit tough, but every shot after trigger is easier to pull so it's easier to get a shot on target. Of course if you have plenty time to think about using it you can thumb the hammer back and take more time aiming.

I'll take it apart and polish the hammer spring stalk. I suppose cleaning up the return spring rod wouldn't hurt either.
