Trigger bar spring contact points
« on: March 26, 2018, 12:44:08 PM »
After doing a SOA conversion on my SP01 Shadow I realized two things:
1. My trigger spring kinda warped due to my stupidy in reinserting the trigger pin. Problem solved currently.
2. The trigger bar spring [TBS] 'arms' which contact the trigger bar were causing problems with my reset (with the semi-damaged trigger spring from #1). I gave the TBS arms a slight push to relieve what I believed was a little high setting and now only one TBS 'arm' contacts the TB while the other is fairly soft (when compared to the 'before' state.

Should I be worried? Gun cycles with dummy rounds. Reset works flawlessly.
Should there be more/a lot of pressure from the TBS to the TB?
Bonus question(s): how does this compare to the Tactical Sports which has a single-sided TB? Is this a hack method to lighten the trigger pull by letting up on the tension the TB was receiving?

Oh man, so many questions....:D

How to you like the SAO trigger? What hammer springs do you run and what ammo? Love my conversion... cheap and night and day difference in the trigger, but it's on a old 75B.

The CZ TS dose not use a dedicated TBS like a CZ 75 variant. In the Tac Sport the TBS also serves as the Trigger Return Spring. So they are not directly comparable.

As to the TBS setting question. Both sides of the TBS should contact the groves located at the bottem of each side of the trigger bar. I am at a bit of a loss to describe the correct setting other than this rule of thumb. Once you take them out from under the trigger bar they should rest about 1/16 - 1/8 of an inch above the bottem of the trigger bar. Each CZ is unique, in some CZs one side of the TBS can require more force than the other. I typically go with the above rule of thumb and then test the pistols function. If it functions i take it to the range and test it with live rounds.

I am unclear as to why the Tac Sport has a single sided trigger bar other than it being a Single Action Only pistol. Being SAO, it dose not require the Double Action portion of the CZ 75 trigger bar.

I had a chance to shoot it the other day. Fantastic!
Hammer spring is an 11lb from Eemann Tech.
Ammo is usually 7.5g (115gr) S&B or rarely the 8g (125gr) factory stuff. On occassion I get some Geco HP and am currently trying to work up loads in 9mm when I get to have a break from the kids and family.

Other springs are also from Eemann Tech, my trigger spring, sear spring, and firing pin spring are all -20% power.

And best part is, the Kadet 2 adapter works flawlessly with these springs!

I've only had trigger bar spring issues once.  CZ 75 Compact project.  I was having issues with the trigger bar spring on one side coming out of the groove and getting between the frame and the trigger bar.

When it was in the groove on both sides the SA trigger pull was light, around 2&3/4 lbs.  I ended up noticing the trigger bar spring legs were not even (one was higher than the other.)  I bent the low to match the other one and that solved the problem of that leg coming out of the groove - but the SA trigger pull went up to just a tad over 3 lbs.  I thought about bending that leg back down again and retesting tripper pull but just never got around to it.  It's still a nice trigger.
I just keep wasting time and money on other brands trying to find/make one shoot like my P07 and P09.  What is wrong with me?
