Making a Glock trigger resemble a P10C trigger
« on: April 09, 2018, 01:01:49 PM »
I think that I may have figured out the right combination of parts to make a Glock feel somewhat like a P10C in the trigger department.  I have a pair of Glock 30sf's that I like to carry.  They are a subcompact 10+1 .45 and are really a decent carry gun except for the Glock trigger.  On one of them, I installed a Pyramid complete kit and for the $180 it cost, it totally sucked.  The wall was gone and there was just a light trigger in a bowl of smooth mush.

Then I installed a Phantom trigger on my Glock 23 and got a lot better results, but it was still not quite right.  On the last upgrade, I decided to buck the trend of going with the minus connector that 95% of people choose and bought the factory + connector which is supposed to yield an 8# trigger pull.  The factory connector is a 5# one and the minus is a 3.5# connector.  To go with the + connector , I installed a Phantom trigger and 4# striker spring.  I still have the 5# trigger spring in there though.  With this combination, I have a little bit of perfectly smooth take up and then a crisp wall that breaks very cleanly at 5# flat.  It feels exactly like a factory P10C trigger to me now.  I have a 6# trigger spring inbound which should drop the pull by about a half pound.  We'll see how that works, but I'm really liking the trigger on this thing now.

I wish that there was some way to make the Block fit my hand like my P10s do, but for now, I'm happy with what I have.  Until CZ comes out with a striker fired compact in .45, I'll keep the G30sf in the carry rotation.  They may be there for a while.   :(

The OEM trigger(100rds in) in my P10 felt very similar to the ZEV set up in my buddy's 19. Close enough that he wasnt happy about the money he spent on the 19. Since then I've installed a Cajun trigger and striker. Had to do some polishing to get it back where it was stock, but it's pretty much there now. Not near as good as the triggers in my hammered CZ's, but pretty darn good and growing on me.

The best trigger upgrade for me had been the Apex Tactical Action Enhancement Kit. I used the factory springs with the Apex trigger & bar, safety plunger and connector. Dropped the pull weight by about a pound and made it very smooth. The reset and travel are slightly shorter and the break is cleaner that the factory trigger. My Gen 4 G19 now has a consistent 4 pound 12 ounce trigger.

My P10Cs are what I use as a high water mark for striker fired trigger feel.  It's the bar that others will get measured by and the combination I have in the Glock brings it pretty close to the stock feel.  Both of my P10s have the full boat CGW parts except for one of them runs the HBI trigger.  I don't think the Glock approaches the level of the tuned P10C trigger, but for a Glock, it's surprisingly good.

A buddy of mine runs the APEX triggers and his feels pretty good.  My only gripe about the Apex trigger is the narrow safety blade.  The Phantom trigger is priced similarly but has the wider style blade like you find in the CGW trigger for the P10C.  The plus connectors only run $5.25 at RockYourGlock.com and really add a nice level of feel to the trigger.  That was the one thing I really missed with the Pyramid trigger was the long smooth pull that was missing the wall I like to feel.

I am a big fan on my HBI/P10C. If I can get a Glock to feel that good, I might just finally get one...

I've got a bag of parts coming tomorrow to try this recipe on a G21.  Maybe we can do another spring shoot sometime when it actually warms up and you can give it a shot.  I'm hoping that this next one turns out as well as the others.
