Magazine dimensional differences question
« on: December 07, 2022, 09:00:04 AM »
So a little back story first. I have a strange fondness for carry guns that have a longer slide and a shorter grip. I beleive the grip is the hardest part of the gun to conceal especially since I never carry owb. I regularly carry a Witness P with a full size slide on a compact frame. Sometimes something smaller would be nice. I've recently been thinking of cutting the grip down on a compact SAR BP6C to Rami length. So I'd like to know the difference in length between a 10 round Rami mag and a CZ 75 compact mag like the Sar would use. A little eye candy showing the aforementioned Witness and Sar.

I can share when I get home.  I'm not sure how much shorter the Rami mags are vs the compact?

Why not build a Rami Semi-Subcompact with a compact slide on a Rami frame?  I'll try it when at home.

Cheers,
Toby

Thank you. The semi compact is basically the idea.

The Rami is on a wider frame and a 75 compact slide will not work.

Are you wanting the difference between the 15 round compact mag and the 10 round rami? I will measure them both and let you know shortly.

But… I may have been mistaken. My PCR slide fit on my Rami but did not cycle smoothly by hand however my PCR is a decocker and my Rami has a manual safety. Also, the hammer on my PCR is narrower than the Rami and the Rami hammer  will not function. So I grabbed my Massada semi-compact (1994 vintage) and its slide fits but the hammer on my Rami is too wide to function as well.

The Rami 10 round magazine is 23mm shorter than the 15 round PCR/compact magazine

Good luck with your project.

Thank you. Seems like 23mm is a worthwhile length adjustment. I want to check a couple of things on my gun but I'm pretty confident this will work. I'll order a mag to use to set the grip length when it's time to do it.

The top edge of the blue tape will be the length of the grip when it's cut for the Rami mag. Its about a finger and a half grip for me but might squeeze 2 on it if I undercut it a bit.
