Oldies but Goodies!
« on: April 23, 2018, 02:27:54 PM »
These are mine.  CZ-75 is a 91 matte blue AA import, CZ-85 is an 87 polymer frame blued slide, CZ-85 Combat is an 88 matte blue.  You young punks can have the new stuff, I will stick to my classics.

Very nice, old codger! 8)  Just admit it, fixed income and all you just can't afford to pick up a modern day wonder, perhaps a Stainless, spiced up Cajun-like to add to the collection.  Have you had a chance to shoot a worked over wonder?  Maybe you're not too old to learn new tricks...

  Its all good, man!

What is with the name calling. How about young guns instead of you punks, and experienced instead of codger.

You peckerheads just don't appreciate or maybe know about real guns.  All the aluminum grips, plastic frames, striker fired bullbleep, on and on.  Give me an early all steel CZ any day.  hahahahahaha

I wasn't very smart when I was in my 20's either so that's all good.  :)  just like pulling you guy's tails.  hehe

No I haven't had a chance to shoot a modern day wonder all tricked outl  They are probably ok but I like what i know.

Before I crossed over the hill and out of my twenties last fall I got a pre-b from 1987. A birthday present to myself from my birth year. It was a surplus pistol and I did a bunch of work to it (opened up the frame for all moder CZ mags, grip mods, beaver tail, etc.). That SOB had some pins fitted into the frame so tight I ruined 3 nice punces, including a starter punch!

I still need to strip the finish and refinish it in something new. But it has some character! All but 1 of my newer CZ?s are all steel (and if they made a steel frame Rami I?d own that instead). I?m weird for my age group. Guys scoff at my 1987 beat to death pre-b until they feel it and shoot it.

Very nice. I especially like the Combat with the windage adjustment.
I wasn't aware CZ made any polymer-framed 75's or 85's back in the 1980's? Huh?

I was shooting my 1911 A1 the other day; and thinking about how it was designed by the master John Browning over 100 years ago, along with the 45 ACP bullet; and it still shoots as well if not better than many 'modern' handguns. I guess the same can be said of those fine old CZ pistols, designed by a Czech master.

I do however appreciate the modern day electronic RDS sights though; as my eyes get closer in age to John Browning's pistols.  ::)

I think he meant poly coat finish on the frame, not a frame made from polymer.

I have one Pre B CZ 85.  Pretty rough when I got it.  Still had middle eastern dust under the grips/grip screws and mixed in with the old oil/powder residue to make a fine lapping compound.  Pitted chamber/barrel (corrosive ammo??  You'd think it was too dry over there for a gun neglected after a rainstorm to rust).  Some rust on the surfaces outside, front sight damaged, a little.

It's purty now, though.  New barrel, new cerakote finish (two tone) with an adjustable rear sight and 1911 fiber optic front sight.  Shoots pretty good, but the trigger (original parts inside except for the springs) isn't as good as some of my CZ75's that I spent more time/money on for parts/polishing.  I still like it.  Just not an EDC gun so it seldom gets shot.

I just keep wasting time and money on other brands trying to find/make one shoot like my P07 and P09.  What is wrong with me?

Wow! That blued finish looks a lot more polished than the norm for the period. Is that an 81/82? Any particular notes on this sample?

Sweet 1980! That one deserves a thread to itself.
