Cz455 Varmint Precision trainer trigger help

I recently bought a 455 VPT in 22. Last owner mod the trigger and is extremely light, he mentioned less than 2lb. Last weekend I took it out the first time and the trigger fire when I engaged safety. Would making the trigger pull heavier  solved this? Also would it be an easy job for one to do at home or need a smith? Thanks

It would depend on how the trigger pull was modified. To make it function properly may be as easy as installing a heavier trigger spring. If the sear was replaced with a DIP adjustable sear then you just need the properly adjust the set screw. If the sear or trigger has been improperly stoned then you may be able to recut them but it probable means part replacement. There are an awful lot of ways to mess up a trigger. I once purchased a used rifle and the striker would follow if the bolt was run hard. Took it apart to see what was going on and someone had twisted on a piece of wire in the sear cut to limit the amount of engagement. Snipped the wirer away and everything was fine. Without actually being able to look at it its impossible to say what exactly is going on with your rifle. The fact that your rifle fired when trying to engage the safety some what makes me think a heavier trigger spring would solve the problem as the safety cams the firing pin back off the sear and then physically blocks the firing pin. More trigger pressure on the sear would hold the two together so the safety does not jar the sear off the trigger. This is where I would begin to look as it is the cheapest and easiest to fix. Also spring replacement is where most people start a trigger job because its cheap and looks easy so they just put in the lightest spring they can find. Anyway good luck
