HK Parts 3 lug mount indexing
« on: April 05, 2018, 04:08:13 PM »
Have the mount screwed on and when fully torqued against the barrel nut, the index clip is in between grooves. Should I back it off (with a little rattle), or leave it tight as shown?

I'm pretty sure you're supposed to back it off, but knowing how little movement is needed for a baffle/endcap strike, I would be cautious and check alignment/wiggle with a bore rod.

If you feel up to it, you could try to properly fit it by using a stone file. Or have a gun smith properly fit it.

I had to do that on a Czechpoint muzzle brake for my vz58. No matter how hard I torqued, it was just shy of indexing with the plunger. I used a fine quartz/stone file to shave off a tiny amount on the back of the brake and it finally "clicked' after torquing it on.

If you do it yourself, just be careful. It only takes a VERY small amount of material removal to make a LARGE impact during rotation.

No do not back it off! You do not want a loos 3 lug mount on you gun as it could cause baffle strikes in the can!

Just move the clip over a little, it's not fixed and can rotate around the barrel nut. If your adapter is loos enough for that clip to be useful then you have bigger issues and I would strongly suggest you avoid running any kind of can on it until a smith or CZ looks at it.

Thanks. I have it snugged all the way down with some lock-tite. We will see how it holds after my first suppressed session.

The clip is retained actually, the tang sits in a groove in the barrel nut to prevent it from rotating (or coming loose).

I would back the barrel nut off a hair until the tang/3 lug match up.

Has anyone tried their HK Parts tri lug muzzle device? I recently finally got my Rugged Obsidian .45 out of NFA jail to try but using the Rugged Tri lug adapter I am unable to fit the suppressor into the HKparts trilug muzzle device. The lugs are too large and bottom out the spring before I can turn it. I have sub2000 that I used a HB industries tri lug muzzle device and it fits that one just fine.
