Considering installing the safety in my P-07 and P-09
« on: September 14, 2018, 03:02:11 PM »
I'm considering converting my P-07 and P-09 to be carried cocked and locked.
All of my carry guns are now hammer fired (by choice) and all but the CZ's are now carried SA so this seems to be the way to go. That will only leave the PCR as DA/SA.
Any way I'm just wondering how the very flat safety works out for any of you who have made this conversion.

I'd appreciate any info.

I qualified a couple of times with my P07 to be able to carry it off duty. I always ran it cocked and locked. Some mention the safety being to flat but I never had an issue. Our qual course has right and left hand shooting. The lever is flatter than say a 1911 but it is quite easy to click down with a sweep of the thumb. The big thing is watch the video a few times and don?t bump the plastic holding the spring in the lever during the install.  Don?t ask why I know that. David

The first thing I do when I get home with an Omega CZ is take it out of the box.

The second thing I do is install the safeties.

Only one (a P09, but I don't remember if it was the 9MM or the .40 S&W) had very, very, very stiff movement.  I used my right thumb till it got tired/sore and then my left thumb till it got tired/sore and then used one of my trigger fingers to work it till it got as smooth/easy as the P07.

Like dry firing a few hundred times.  Works off the rough spots and makes things more easier/smoother.

I "grew up" shooting/carrying a 1911 so the cocked and locked variation of the CZ's was natural.
I just keep wasting time and money on other brands trying to find/make one shoot like my P07 and P09.  What is wrong with me?

Well I was going to do it over the weekend but like they (whoever they are) "don't put off until tomorrow what you can do today" so delayed dinner for a few minutes and now they both have safeties.

Now, make sure they are unloaded and work with the safeties till you get used to running them.

I have no issues with SA with safeties, I will however have to get used to the really flat safety on these, I do wish they were more like the 1911 safety.

It depends on your hand size and thumb length :D No really.

I simply cannot draw my P-07 or P-09 and reliably hit the safety without shifting my grip and I have a couple of friends with the same problem so I use the decocker.

I cannot believe no one has come up with an extended safety for these guns!

That's what I meant, get used to those flat safeties.  I don't seem to have an issue with them, but some people seem to.

I thought about switching to safety on my P07 but I heard it?s a pain switching back to decocker.
So I?ll keep it as decocker. I really enjoy the challenge of DA because I had been only using strikers as carry guns. I?ll keep practicing DA and DA/SA transition till I feel confident.

This is true.  It really isn't hard.  There are a few easily found videos on line which walk you through the process.
