C P-01 Seer Cage Pin Comes Loose
« on: September 29, 2018, 08:58:26 PM »
So last couple of times I've shot my P-01, the sear pin starts to work it's way out. Not sure what's going on. It's a fairly new pistol.

Could I have mistakenly swapped pins the last time I completely stripped it?

Is there another pin that is a very similar size?

Does the pin go in a certain direction and I reversed it?

Any other ideas?

It's the pin furthest to the rear.

This is not unheard of, i have seen it a few times. In the case that it continues to walk out i believe that the fix is to stake it in place. It is my understanding that the 75 variant decocker sear cage pin is tapered, this means that it can only go in/out one way and only requires staking on one side of the frame.

Cajun Gun Works has mentioned of a specific way to stake it in the past but i have not seen any details on the process. It may be worth while to give them a call or make a post in the CGW section of the forums.

I am also interested to hear other forum members input on your question.

Which way does it walk out? The pin is only supposed to go out the left side, and it should be impossible to walk. The frame keeps it from going out the right side. If it?s going out the right, that?s bad JuJu, meaning the pin was forced thru the opening and the only way I?ve seen that fixed is by staking it into the frame on the right side.
Off hand I can?t think of another pin it could be mixed up with.

Its walking out on the right side. I think you can see in the pic that the end of the pin is the tapered end. I did remove the pin to disassemble the seer. I did it a few weeks ago so I don't remember but I am almost positive I removed it out of the left side. I just checked the instructions I followed and it states to remove from the left.

Now, I sort of remember that the punch I used to remove the pin went pretty far into the frame. I wonder if I may have widened the hole with the tapered end of the punch. Not sure. This certainly bums me the heck out though.

Do you guys think that CZ warranty would cover this?

You can certainly call them Monday, but I have a feeling that they won?t cover it, but stranger things have happened. It?s very possible the punch widened the hole, especially if a hammer was involved. I?d still give CGW or CZC a call. There?s a chance that they know a cleaner way other than staking to keep it from walking.

Ya, i am thinking that the staking process is straight forward but i am unclear where exactly to hit it. If i remember correctly CGW stated that when done correctly the staking is not very visible after the fact. I also remember that only the pin its self is hit not the pistol frame. Bare in mind that my memory is not infallible.  :)

i would use loctite and put on both ends  of pin ! put a drop on and then wipe off excess with qtip. loctite makes a bearing retainer that is green that is more chemical resistant than others. that's what i would do before i started staking anything!

I'm a little late to the party, but I had a question.

The picture is pretty blurry, but it kind of looks like it got drilled out and more of the pin is exposed. The hole looks larger than the one on my pistol. Can you post a more clear picture?
