DW 1911 Accuracy
« on: January 20, 2006, 11:50:48 PM »
What is the usual 5-shot group accuracy one should expect at 25 yds. out of a Pointman Major in .45 ACP?

My Pointman 10mm is deadly accurate but I haven't gotten my .45 to do too well at all.  I might not have hit on the right ammo but so far not so good.  Everything seems dead tight, barrel lockup, slide to frame, barrel bushing, just puzzled.

Any suggestions for a good accurate factory ammo?

I use target reloads (about 750 fps), and I am the limiting factor, not the Pointman.  Using a sandbag, 1.5" is normal, I get really smiley when I can get a 2.5" group two handed, and downright ecstatic with 2.5" one hand shots, usually more like 3.5"
the DW shoots better with iron sights than my safari (olympic arms) matchmaster with a tasco optima2000 slide mounted red-dot, but when the eyes start to go, the red-dot is better for me for timed and rapid fire.
