"Bob Chute" for the Dillon 550
« on: January 21, 2019, 12:56:50 PM »
Just wanted to point out this new product for the Dillon 550. It's a spent primer chute that takes the place of the little metal bucket that attaches to the RH dog bone.

https://ballistictools.com/store/bob-chute-spent-primer-chute-for-dillon-550-press

It's better than the stock Dillon item because it not only does a better job of catching the spent primer and its smut, but if you'll route the hose to a gallon milk jug or something similar, then there's a chance you may never need to touch spent primers or their possibly toxic smut.

I tried the similar product from Unique-Tek which was very good, but I think this version from Ballistic Tools rides slightly higher on the dog bone and therefore may have a slightly higher catch percentage.

 ;)

I am running one of these on my 550s, they are working well. I have not touched them since i installed them. There are allot less primers on the floor now.

For those that have 650, the cheapo trick is to get a large rimmed case like 44 mag, ream the primer pocket out with a step drill bit, then install that where the plastic tray is set to go. then run your tube off that casemouth. Also for the liver primer chute, I have a trimmed down 12 ga shotshell covering the ramp. It helps tremendously in keeping live primers off the floor, you can easily slide it off and dump the primers into a tray or whatever.

I got the part from either unique Tek or inline ( don't remember) and ran the hose into a quart bottle fixed to the leg of my bench so l don't knock it over. After several thousand no mess.
