357 sig bullet in 9mm ?

I was given a box of 357 Sig 125 gr hp. Gold Dots (.355)  from an older fellow who was cleaning out stuff he no longer uses,, he said it could be fired in a 9mm ,, being un sure im wondering if this bullet will work in the 9mm without any issues ??  It is a. 355 dia bullet and the only thing i can see that may be different is the hollow point looks a bit more open than a normal 124 gr. GD made for 9mm ,, I tried contacting Speer to ask about this but never got an answer ,,
Im a little un sure about using these bullets but since i have them i hate to just leave um on collecting dust .......

eta...The velocity of the .357 Sig Gold Dot ammo is ~200 fps faster than 9mm, so I don't know if they altered the design to control expansion in the faster round. I think they'd expand fine at 9mm velocities.

My only concern would be feeding issues with a steeper ogive. Other that that size and weight should work.

I know the typical ogive shape for 357 Sig is steeper but in the pictures on the Speer website, all the Gold Dots havesimilar appearing ogives regardless of caliber, or weight.

It's one of thise that can't be answered but by the guy with the bullets and the gun.

Do the plunk/push test, will they chamber?  That is it.  There arent realky any other concerns.

I don't think there is a Gold Dot for 357Sig versus 9x19. I think Speer only makes 0.355" Gold Dots in various weights. Then you can put that 0.355" bullet in 380Auto, 38 Super, 9x19, 9x21, 9x23, 357Sig, or whatever you desire.

THIS page from Brownells seems to reinforce that.

But like ID said, try it and see. You've got nothing to loose. Speer loads those to an OAL of about 1.130". I'd suggest using BE-86 or N340.

I haven't been on here for awhile, since I've been down at the SHOT Show in Vegas. 

Speer does/did make a Gold Dot for the 357 Sig (I have some), and it will shoot fine in the 9x19, as long as they aren't loaded too long.  If the OAL is too long, the ogive will contact the leade and keep them from properly chambering.

Just load these with data for the same weight bullet (124/125 gr., it won't make any difference) and make sure after you load the first round that they will fully chamber before you load the rest. 

These are a great bullet, especially in 357 Sig, but loaded properly in 9x19, they will work fine there, too.
