Hi all,

I've got a Tanfoglio TZ75 from 1985 that I really love (AN stamp by trigger guard), but the sights are not the greatest.

Wondering what sights I can buy that would fit the TZ75? My primary goal is really to replace the rear sight with a Standard Precision optic mounting plate so I can mount a red dot....but I don't know what size a TZ75 dovetail is? Is it standard CZ75? I've done some research before posting this question but found someone in an Amazon review that bought a CZ75 rear sight and supposedly the TZ75 fitting a CZ75 rear sight wasn't even close, but in a lot of listings for things I see CZ75/TZ75/TA90 as one category of compatibility for a rear sight.

All input that can help me would be greatly appreciated, as I'd love to pursue two options...either a red dot mounting plate that slides into the rear dovetail, or at least better rear and front sights to improve upon the faded sights that are on it now. (mine has the non-adjustable rear with the white lines that form an upside down teepee if you will...and the front site has no pin but just looks like it slides in from the front of the barrel toward the back of the barrel in what must be a groove in the slide.)

Thanks Sincerely,

NewbJersey

No clue on the Dove-Tail size on the older Pre Series 88 Tz75's, but I do know that the Front Sights are swaged into a Hole in the top of the Slide like the original 1911's were.
You have to un-screw the Front Barrel Bushing to get at it.  Note that you should use Loctite when re-installing the front Barrel Bushing.

From what I've heard, the S&W M&P Rear Sight Dovetail may be close, but I can't say for sure.  If you can verify that it is, please post back.
Also, you may be able to get some ideas from this section of the Forum: https://czfirearms.us/index.php?board=98.0

Forum Member Win308 mounted one on a newer Tanfoglio Witness, but did not mention the model of the mounting rail.  https://czfirearms.us/index.php?topic=74220.msg528513#msg528513

The sight base I used was from Sight Mount company.  It was meant for a 1911.  The mount came with a soft steel insert that was supposed to fit a 1911 rear dovetail, but was slightly too big/wide for the Tanfoglio.  This required some gentile filing on the insert until it would fit into the Tanfo dovetail with some light tapping with a small brass hammer.  Once driven into place there were 2 holes drilled and tapped in the insert that bolted the sight base down with socket screws.  The front of the sight base had a single hole that required drilling into the slide and tapping and threading that hole.  A socket screw was then inserted and tightened down in the new hole securing the sight base with one screw in the front and two in the back.  Very snug fit with no movement.  A Burris Fast Fire 3 was mounted on the sight base. It was like putting a $20 saddle on a $10 horse....but it worked.

Thanks guys, very much.

I'm way past beddie bye time so this message is short, but I'll follow up sometime after the weekend as I research my options further.

A part of me is considering selling the gun and going to a P01 or a CZP10C (wanting them to come out with a red dot ready version) in order to be able to spec out the pistol exactly as I'd like. (no rail on the TZ75 and I'd like a light)

Beautiful pistol though this TZ75....truly a beautiful design and nothing like the sheen and weight of metal.

Anway, I'm rambling.

Thanks again
