Ejection on VZ2008
« on: February 16, 2019, 10:07:31 PM »
I took my VZ2008 project to the range a few days ago to sight in with the new Primary Arms Cyclops that I mounted on the rifle.  I ran around 100 some rounds through the gun and had a couple instances where the spent round didn't eject.  The rifle also does not eject the empty casings near as far as my VZ58.  The ejector looks fine to me so I'm wondering if maybe the rifle is undergassed.  I was using Red Army Standard and Golden Tiger ammo.  Has anyone else noticed this on there VZ?

Does your piston move freely w/ bolt locked back (can also remove piston spring to check w/o spring tension as well)?  Did you check the chamber for rust or teflon coating?

How many rounds through the gun?

Well I bought the gun used so no idea how many rounds but it was one of the early century builds that I was looking for with the tabbed bolt carrier.  I don't believe it had been fired very much  before I bought it, and I've only put about 150 rounds through it so far.  I will check on the piston & spring.  To clarify, the two failures were caused by the empty casing failing to clear the gun and preventing the bolt carrier from fully closing, as the casing was stovepiped between the frame and the bolt carrier.

Century pistons have been known to bend.
