Help me find an article about Taper Crimps
« on: February 21, 2019, 02:53:13 PM »
I was recently reading a helpful post (I think it was in this forum), but I cannot find it. Please help.

The section I'm looking for was describing the use of calipers to check taper crimps and what it meant when certain parts of the case were a certain, out-of-spec, diameter.

Thank you.

I'm having HELL figuring out how to get ammo to drop into my case gauge using all Hornady components (LnL Progressive and dies) plus a Mr. Bullet Feeder.

I can't always get the resized cases to drop into the case gauge, so I know I have an issue there. However, even the resized cases that fit the gauge refuse to fit the gauge after I seat a bullet in them. Most of the do fire through my guns, but I need them ALL to work.

I'm currently unable to put the bullet feeder die adjacent to the powder drop, so I am forced to seat and crimp in one step.

I have read through it numerous times. It isn't the one I was looking for though. I'm using the principles that you've laid out, but I'm dealing with the technical challenge of actually getting the seating/crimping die adjusted properly. The post I'm searching for was providing even more specific detail.

What's to understand ? Move the die downward to increase the crimp; move the die upward to decreases the crimp. Make changes by moving no more than 1/8 of a turn.

Adjustment takes forever !!   ;D
