Cocked and Locked

I searched and found an old thread about who carries their 83/82 this way but anyone buy the guy because it offers that option? I did. My main gun (for now) is a Springfield 1911 and I wanted a smaller gun that worked the same. Same reason I?m considering a 75 for my 9mm over my next choice a Beretta.

Everything I have is safety version including my 380 83. Wish I had my 83 in .32 which is one of 2 guns sold over the years that I wish I had kept. 25th anniversary 75B is the other and i had 2. One from the batch of 1000 and one from the batch of 500. Cocked and locked forever!

Why use 911 when it's faster to use 1911 or 9mm?

     Hiya 007 and thx for your thread. Love the 83's ambi safety,being a Bambi shooter and glad that another cz is on your short list. And think I'd seen that old thread myself. Heck the ca's can even be run half cocked and locked for those choosing to. When I did EDC I preferred using the point and shoot option, with the 83 hammer down and safety off,and the primary a compact 75 decocker at half cock. Experiment,and practice so whatever you choose become reflex. Wish they bring the 83 back one day. Be well.

I carry my 82 with the hammer down and safety off. When I draw I only have to worry about my target and not my gun. I draw, aim and pull the trigger. This took a little to get used to, as my carry guns were mostly 1911 platforms, which I carried cocked and locked. I chose the 1911 style to carry because I used to shoot IDPA, IPPSC, and bowling pins with 1911's. Now I no longer shoot competition so I switched to my 82.

I like that the 83 gives you the option of either. If i decide later on to switch my main gun to DA/SA then the 83 will still be a great companion gun.
