Would CGW kit help with DA/SA transition?
« on: March 15, 2019, 06:54:23 PM »
I?m going back and forth between getting a new P10c to replace the one I sold, or upgrade my P07 with the CGW pro kit (possibly sending it in for the full TLC). Only have enough play money left for one or the other.

My question is, if I?m having trouble with the DA/SA transition, could I expect the CGW kit to make adjusting to the transition easier?

I?ve always been a striker guy, the P07 being my first DA/SA. Bought it because I like the added safety margin of the heavy first pull under stress. I love the gun, ergonomics are great. I?m pretty good in SA, ok in DA, but the transition still drives me nuts. Some days I manage it well, some days I don?t. Bottom line, I like the P07 more than my G19 when I?m at home dry firing, and my G19 more than my P07 at the range.

So now I?m trying to decide if I should stick with DA/SA and see if the CGW kit helps with the transition (at the very least smoothing out the trigger and getting rid of the stacking), or go back to a P10.

Thanks for any input!

It will absolutely help, just depends on how light you go with the mainspring. That said, you'll still have to train to overcome it.

I hate to be the guy that gives this answer butttttt this is all a training issue.

Think of how many rounds you have with the G19 and striker fired trigger, now think of how many rounds you have with a DA then SA.

With that being said.... yes the CGW package is also going to help, dont think of it as oh cool this is now in the gun and I will shoot the same or better than with my 19, but hey ok this DA pull is a lot nicer (which will make learning that trigger easier and nicer).

And lastly to go back to the first part about practicing, the DA/SA is a completely different pull, there was a video out there that explained how you are actually learning two different styles of trigger presses, one for the DA and one for the SA

Something along the lines of roll the DA and press the SA hopefully someone with more knowledge will correct me on that or clarify it

That?s a good video I watched it a few times.

OP:
Search on YouTube for
Ernest Langdon he?s has a few great DA/ SA videos.
I have a P07 and for me I?d rather keep shooting it stock. I?m sure a CGW upgrade would make it easier but I don?t find the stock trigger impossible.

For me it?s range time with the DA/SA and dry fire. It can be a perishable skill.

Thanks for the replies. Hadn?t seen that video but have watched some of Langdon?s.

I?ve been tempted to leave mine stock too, typically hesitant to modify SD guns, but it?s hard to argue CGW quality.

For the record I never thought an improved DA would replace training, just hoped it would help with the process!

Some p07s are fine OTB.  Some suck.  All can likely end up ok.    I was not a fan of switching out all the springs and things, but now that I?ve gone through it and done a lot of double action shooting I can tell you that the CGW kits do help you be consistent in your double action pull.   This also of course helps in transition.

Not sure this relates directly to the topic, but I find it easier to transition back and forth between my 75's and P10 than the P-07.
