Brand new P10c, rear sight goes flying
« on: March 24, 2019, 08:42:08 PM »
Good afternoon ladies and gentlemen. I?m new to the board but excited (kind of I think) to be getting into cz?s

Took my brand new P10c to the range to function test the weapon. 4th shot and the rear H3 2 dot night sight goes flying out of the channel, and hit the wall. After a WTF?!!!? I tried reinstalling it as I carry a tool kit. Turns out the supplied screw ran out of thread and was spinning freely in the sight and the sight was still sliding side to side.

Still ran about 100 more rounds without a rear sight of ball and 50 of carry ammo to function test.  1 stovepipe on a purposeful limp wrist with crappy ball ammo.

Pack up and head to the hardware store and find oem size, and the next two sizes bigger. Went one length up and all is good.

Is this a known issue?

If it were me, I'd send it back to CZ. It sounds like the rear sight was improperly fitted to begin with..properly fitted, it should be a press fit, with the locking screw as added insurance, and not to hold the whole thing in place..Call CZUSA and let them deal with it, that's what the warranty is for...

^^^This. The sight should fit tightly enough in the dovetail to not come out even without a set screw.
If it's really that loose I would call CZ-USA and let them handle the issue.

I?ve had multiple CZ?s and none have been that loose with the factory sight. Something is off. You could try loctite in the dovetail but if you plan on running factory sight you should have CZ look at it. David

Amazing CS. Talked to a gunsmith, who said my fix would work but that he wanted to make it right and sent me over to parts and they?re sending me a brand new rear night sight. Don?t have to send the old one back.

ETA: if the new one is sloppy as well, I will send the slide in.

Hiya Lebherz27 and thanks for the thread. Can relate to your story a bit,I'm glad ya never had a issue with a part flying back at you. After replacing a Shadow sp-1 factory rear to set up the slide racker, and mount to run a c-more red dot, maybe its 4th time to the range, the red loctight guess dried and disintegrated at the dovetail so suddenly barely caught it in juggling fashion. Had it bounced off the ranges concrete floor I'm afraid I woulda been SOL. The blue stuff seemed to work slightly better for next try.  I've had occasion to call cz-usa and rep to smith to next appropriate dept is the companies SOP. And as the standard service you'd expect from most any corporate entity, That the service is amazing, almost an anomaly, gives us a glimpse of the road we are on and the direction we've been heading a good long while. Cheers be well.

Yes, I had a loose rear sight on one of my  CZ's, can't remember which one.  I think it was the sight itself that was off, not the slide dovetail, as I put in a different rear sight anyway and it was snug before I tightened the set screw.

If the sight is dependent on the set screw, it is going to move on its own over time.  I've used shim stock to tighten up several CZ red dot mounts.  I'm kinda used to it.

Sounds like the rear sight is defective. The only issues I have ever had with my CZ handguns have been sight related (Dead front night sight on brand new P07 twice and same issue on P01 which is at CZ right now). I would send it back for sure.

Weird, never had that one. The one I remember was a guy shooting his Artillery Luger at the range I worked at and lost the front sight. We found it the next day and gave it back to him - he was panicked.
