CZ 455 Ultra Match… help a old guy out would ya.
« on: October 16, 2021, 12:05:43 PM »
Hey Everybody.

I have been skimming these forums for a little bit now and I love the help that’s given out.. even to old grey balls like my self…🤨😜.

I’m not new to firearms just new to .22 cal rifles. I love my 455 ultra match but want to add scope rings or a weaver plate to help ease the strain the old eyeballs. Iam curious what height of scope rings I would need to clear the front and rear iron sights? Low..med..high??  Or.. where or what type of weaver plate would fit this rifle. The dovetail is as odd as I’ve seen on a firearm lol.

Thanks for all the help. I’m looking forward to hanging around and picking your brains. This whole CZ thing might become addictive.

Thanks again.

For the plate try https://www.diproductsinc.com/.  Scope ring height needed is dependent on barrel taper and the objective bell of the scope.  Plan on high if the bell is 40mm or over.  Rear sight may need to be removed, depending on scope employed.

Wish you well on your project.

To the best of my knowledge all the 455 variations used the 11mm dovetail. The model 452 used both the 3/8" and the 11mm dovetail depending on which variation you ended up with. I've not used any plates but both DIP and AREA 419 make them. I have a 455 Full Stock that has open sights, with a 2-7 scope in either Leupold or Burris medium rings you can see the front sight ghosting when the scope is in lower powers. You'd have to go some what taller to get above the sights. But I like to keep my scopes as low as possible and consider the front sight ghosting to be a non issue.

best advice is to measure the height you'll need with your combo of rifle, mount & scope.

1. put the rifle in a rest and level it
2. use stacks of quarters to build up the height to the level you need
3. measure the stack and buy rings equal or slightly greater than the required stack height.
