9mm 135gr Match Winner - Rocky Mountain Reloading
« on: April 04, 2019, 09:03:30 PM »
Hello:

I've been interested in trying 135gr bullets in my CZ 85 Combat for USPA Production and IDPA SSP..  I was expecting that 135gr bullets would have less recoil at 130 power factor than 124gr or 115 gr bullets but yet run the gun a little faster than 147 gr. bullets.

I see that Rocky Mountain Reloading is selling 135 gr Match Winner bullets:  https://www.rmrbullets.com/shop/rmr-in-house/9mm-135-gr-rmr-flat-point-matchwinner/

Has anyone tried these in their CZs? Results?   If so, are there OAL issues with the shape of these bullets?

Also, has anyone tried these in a 9mm 1911?  I just picked up a 9mm Dan Wesson Valor Commander and am eager to start reloading for it.

Thanks,

Chris

Can't help you with the bullet, but as an owner of a Dan Wesson 1911 I can tell you that they use a "match barrel" which displays all the short leade idiosyncrasies of the Czech-made barrels. So the same care will be required.

You'll have trouble finding a lot of load data, but note that 135gr is exactly halfway between 124gr and 147gr in weight, and therefore the Starting Load info can be safely proportioned from loads for the other two jacketed bullet weights.

I've got a 1,000 of them sitting on my loading bench right now, but haven't had a chance to load them, since I've been extremely busy.  I won't be loading them in 9x19, though.  These were bought for my .38 Super +P loads, since I get my best accuracy in these guns and caliber with 130 gr. bullets, run near maximum loads for the caliber.  I'm hoping these fully jacketed bullets will shine in this caliber.  I just need some time to actually sit down at my loading benches and do some actual loading.

I have not tried the RMR bullets but have been a huge fan of these bullets and shot 1000s of them out of my CZs ! https://www.xtremebullets.com/9mm-135-RNFP-p/xc9mm-135rnfp-b0500.htm
I like them cuz they are sized @ .356 and they always shot great. What's interesting now it these cost more than the RMR jacketed bullets!  :o I have not loaded them for a while now cuz I found other 135s that are less $$$ and shoot just as well. I will say any RMR bullet I have ever shot has always performed very good so I wouldn't hesitate in buying the RMR bullets.
