Having a CZ small action bolt rifle in 7.62x39mm, i find I am free of the gas operating system. I am also understanding the lockup of the bolt gun is stronger than the locking set up of the gas guns.
So Im working with 150 grain bullets and have achieved nearly 2300 fps without the usual signs of high pressure. (Bolt opening and extraction being sticky, excessively flattened primers and such.) My idea is to develop a deer suitable round in a fairly light and easy to carry rifle. So far, I am sticking with iron sights to avoid the weight of a scope. I may have to rethink that idea later.
Anyone get a similar wild hair?
