Welcome to the CZ Forum.I will take a position between
Painter and
Oteroman and say
"maybe". The fact you loaded RN gives you the best chance, but the exact ogive shape of a RN can vary from maker to maker. For instance,
Rocky Mntn Reloading made a RN for a short time that worked great in CZs', then they changed their ogive shape to a much more blunt design. The OALs had to be decreased substantially when they made this change. So there you had an example of "RN" from the same maker changing the OAL.
Here's another famous example....
The 124gr Zero RNFP on the left has a Max OAL of 0.992" in my SP01. (This is shorter than suggested 1.000" by SAAMI standards.) The 124gr Berry RN on the right has a Max OAL of 1.200" (much longer than the magazine can ever accept). So here we have a variation of over 0.20" just between 2 RN bullets. Clearly guessing cannot be used to make this determination.
I run all of my reloads through a case gauge. But I will "plunk" a few before reloading more.
The only length dimension a case or cartridge gauge can tell you if you exceed 1.169", the SAAMI Max OAL for 9x19 Luger. It does not include the rifling,
therefore it cannot tell you if the bullet interferes with the rifling. So in this instance, the case gauge is useless.
You will need to use your actual CZ barrel for this test. The barrel is ALWAYS the ultimate judge when it comes to OAL and determining seating depth. Until you are comfortable with your CZ reloading and possibly decide upon a standard bullet, believe me when I say you will be pulling that CZ barrel out of the gun a lot !! But in all this your reloading skills will improve a lot too.
We will release a revised "How to Determine..." guide in the next week. Hopefully this will be clearer than the one we have now.
Have fun and ask questions. We're here to help.
