14# Recoil Spring from CGW
« on: April 29, 2019, 05:43:18 PM »
Hello Guys,

I have a couple of P01s and a 75 Compact. How many of you have replaced the stock 16# recoil spring with the 14# CGW recoil spring?  On the CGW site it says "Ideal for lower pressure ?target? ammo." Since I don't use specific target ammo, I'm not sure I should replace it.  Since my P01 has an alloy frame, I don't want to "beat it up" using a lower poundage spring.  Other than lessening the force to cycle the slide what are the pros and cons?

Thanks,
Tommy

I'm sure one of the more experienced members will be able to provide more detailed input. I'm fairly new to CZs but have read that an underpowered recoil spring could contribute to slide stop wear and lifespan? Timing comes to mind as well? Unless you'r reloading a bunch of lower pressure target ammo I'd stick with the stock rig and factory ammo, why try to out think the engineers?

I replaced mine because my wife couldn't rack the slide. It hasnt had any issues at all and is way more pleasant to operate because of it. We've used 115gr-147gr without any issues. I say go for it just dont forget to buy the stainless guide rod while you're at it.
