CZ 97 differences
« on: May 05, 2019, 01:17:21 PM »
Is there any differences in the 97 BD versus the safety model? Trigger different? Is one better for upgrades than the other? Thinking about adding the BD next, better sights and I most likely won?t be carrying it. T i a

Internals are basically the same as all CZ 75 variants.  Decocker models are definitely trickier to work on than safety models.  Honestly, unless it?s going to be a gun you carry I really see not need for a decocker.  But some folks just prefer not manually lowering the hammer.

Trigger shoes are different. Otherwise as said above internals are basically the same except for the lock work.

If it's a range toy, the B model gives you the option of SAO. The BD does not.

The BD also ships with factory installed tritium sights.

I just handled a BD today. How does the trigger of the BD compare against the B model? Is one better than the other? If I get a 97, it will be just a range toy. Also, how does the B get converted to an SAO?

I just picked up a BD yesterday. Notable differences are the de cocker and night sights. The B can be an ?SA? in the sense that the safety allows it to be safely carried in Condition 1 like a 1911, whereas the BD has a de cocker where the safety would otherwise be. On the BD, because there is no manual safety the only safe way to carry with a round in the chamber is to set the hammer to the safety notch, thus requiring no manipulation of a safety to fire, but requires a stiffer double action pull to fire the first round.

Within the CZ75 variants, in factory stock condition safety models an decockers have comparable triggers. I other words neither one has a particular advantage. There is likely to be more variance in two of the same factory model than there is between a decocker and a safety model.

As to the SAO conversion for safety models. It is rather straight forward. Remove the disconector and swap out the factory SA/DA trigger for an SAO style trigger. That is all that is required for SAO conversion.
Will work for CZ pics! (including but not limited to all CZ clones)
