Jamming
« on: May 22, 2019, 01:42:36 PM »
Need help or advise, My CZ 75 BD Has about 600 rounds through it, recently it has started jamming, the spent shell casing is not extracting because of the incoming shell blocks it (Kind of like extracting and entering at the same time). I am using the white box 9mm from Walmart, (same as always) I am not "Limpwristing"  never a problem until now, it will run perfect for a few rounds and then jam, maybe jam two or three times a Mag, then run fine for a mag or two, really no pattern to it. any and all help will be appreciated  Thanks

Hiya and thx for the thread. Prolly a call to cz use and a smith there can help you troubleshoot. Believe the site has a toll free number. Be well.

I would try some different ammo before doing anything but cleaning it.

...first thought would be to clean behind the extractor thoroughly, I'm presuming you've cleaned the entire pistol but gook can build up behind the extractor. Use alcohol and a little angled brush if you can find one, a round toothpick is a way to dig out crud from back there. I sometimes use a clean cotton cloth (old T shirt material is great) and kind of floss behind the claw. Again I use alcohol and NO oil or CLP on the claw, you want it to grab the shell and hold on.
...second thought, try some alternate ammo. You'd expect that ammo would be consistent from batch to batch but that's not always the case. You could have gotten a box that's a hair out of spec?
Those would be my suggestions to try first, chances are you'll be good to go? Good luck :-)

Also, you may want to check the recoil spring.  It may not be moving fast enough to clear the spent round.  If you have another 75, "borrow" the recoil spring to test and see.

Are your magazines marked so you can track each one and tell if the issue occurs across all of them - or with only one?
I just keep wasting time and money on other brands trying to find/make one shoot like my P07 and P09.  What is wrong with me?

+1 for cleaning

Also, how many rounds jammed?
If it happened 1-2 times for 600 rounds I won't worry.

First I want to all of you who took the time to post!!! I really appreciate that!  After I read all the advise I tore the gun down for a super cleaning, I also took the two Mags. I have and cleaned them. I will return to the range tomorrow and see if it makes a difference, I am not sure just what brands of ammo I have in the cabinet, as I would like to try something different, I am thinking I only have the Winchester from Walmart. Sulpgnir, I can see the recoil spring being the weak link, as the next round is trying to enter while the spent shell is still in there. So, I gave it a good cleaning, am going to pick up some different ammo. if I am still having problems I will call CZ (I may anyway) As you all know, having a gun that you don't have a 100 percent confidence it, becomes a paper weight. CZ has a great Reputation so I am sure it has a simple solution. Thanks again!!. I will give a report tomorrow.
