CZ P-07 or IWI Jericho polymer ?
« on: March 09, 2020, 11:31:34 AM »
I own 2 all steel CZ's and an all steel IWI Jericho. I am wanting a hammer fired polymer gun and these seem to be the best. What are the pros and cons of the P07 and the IWI Jericho polymer ?
I have to say that when the P07 first came out I bought it and it had the frame buldge , the trigger would not reset . CZ sent me a new P07 and that was great but I lost trust with CZ polymer after that fiasco. But now I am back to the drawing board on getting a polymer hammer gun . Any information is appreciated.

The P07 has come a long way sine the first version. The frame bulge issue is no longer there. The out of the box trigger can be different from one gun to another. I have no experience with the IWI. So I cant comment on that.

The 2nd generation of P07s is indeed a winner for me, the polymer is an improved formulation and retains it's integrity. The Wife and I have close to 10K rounds through our two 07s. While the first was a rough shooter OOB, polishing and break-in have proved it to be an extremely reliable and accurate HD performer. The 2nd in ODG was sweet OOB, and we've had 3 malfunctions between the two pistols, all in 1 (one) box of ammo.
In the quest for pistols, I found the polymer Jericho a sweet shooter, but the grip just didn't match my hand well, and I preferred the straight  grip of the P07.

Are you saying that you had 3 malfunctions with 2 guns out of 1 box of ammo ?

Affirmative on those malfunctions. One Failure to extract for my P07, and two for the Wife's. The Ammo was 115 FMJ "Field and Stream" from Dicks Sporting Goods. I managed to recover two of the spent cases, and they showed significant scuff marks.
Needless to say, I won't try saving a buck a box again. I generally look for any obvious difference in OAL, but can't very well check for case wall irregularities.
Other than that my only gripe is that no matter which 07 I pick, the one my wife shoots is the more accurate one ! Guess thats the price I have to pay for "robbing the cradle" ! LOL

I like CZ pistols but I love my 941 Polymer. The main reason, for me, is the safety lever can be operated with the hammer in any position. The safety on a CZ can only be operated with the hammer in half-cocked and or full-cocked position. I’ll probably get kickback for saying but that’s a deal-breaker for me.

I had a CZ P-07 for several years and ran over 700 rounds through it with absolutely no problems. Reliability was never an issue.

Got me one ordered. Cant wait to pick it up. Hopefully CZ has fixed the new P07 better than the old "Duty" P07.

The first P07 I handled was a "Duty" at a LGS, but the asking price was higher than a new 2nd gen at that time, so We found a range 125 miles from us that had a P09 and P07 on it's rental roster, and took a day to try them out. I grouped better slightly better with the P09, but liked the balance point of the 07 more. I left that range feeling that someone designed the P07 just for my hand, LOL ! We also rented a HK P30L, but while it's a nice pistol, neither of us were overly impressed. The grips rattled, and the trigger was really rough.
I've got to admit I wasn't thrilled when I picked mine up at the FFL. The fit was right but the trigger was a bit disappointing. After 500 rounds It was better, but I decided to tear it down and do the polishing described in this forum. I may someday try to improve it, but it sure has turned out pretty nice. The Wife's green 07 is fine as is !
My brother in law is a devout Glock fan, but had to admit that our CZ's seem to be better built pistols. Our daughter insists her P229 Legion has a nicer trigger, and I agree; but for the price difference, it better !!! It's not as comfortable for me though.
Keep us posted ! Hope it turns out pleasantly !

I do love my 941 but admittedly the P07 has a better feel in the hand. Tons of upgrades for the P07 too. Dang, did I just talk myself into buying a P07?! :o
