Cold War CZ-75's have more positive safeties?
« on: May 09, 2019, 11:05:15 PM »
Saw a second gen Cold war 75B in a pawn shop yesterday and I noticed that the safety on that gun was very positive, unlike the other stock 75B's I've come across so far. There was a stronger detent and click when the safety lever was engaged. For you folks who have a cold war 75B, is your safety more positive than standard 75's? The gun in question looked like this.

The Cold War Com guns I've handled seemed to have the same weak safety as any other 75B I've handled.Likely someone has upgraded the detent spring in the one you were looking at.

Perhaps that's the reason then. The gun didn't look modified in any way, but I also didn't field strip the gun either.

You would need to totally disassemble the gun to find the replacement spring. This isn't something you can physically see even by field stripping. We are talking about a very small coil spring that operates the safety detent.

I personally didn?t notice any difference, mine is 1st generation ,but with CZ tolerances I think it?s nothing unusual that one gun slightly differ from the other.

I used to own a "Cold War" CZ75 from the first production run with the square trigger guard and the safety lever was much stiffer than the later production one I currently own with the round trigger guard.  CZ made several improvements to this particular model between the two production runs.
