CGW bushing thoughts and SRT
« on: June 03, 2019, 06:41:02 PM »
Sending in my 97 shortly but just wondering what real-world differences - in all ways - did people notice? I'm also going to put the short reach trigger in. Thoughts and advice? Thanks.

Didn't think I'd take so much to my 97 having shot Shadows and TSOs for a long time, but I seem to be hooked...

Waiting for the replies.

I am picking up my new 97B on Friday and will most likely send it to CGW for their pro package this coming winter.

For my 97b I installed the srs1 and rrk.  I?m not building a race gun just wanted to cleanup the trigger pull.  Other than the trigger shape the rrk didn?t seem to make much of a difference.  The over travel screw made no difference, could have removed it.  The take up screw did very little, not the 5mm advertised.  The trigger has only one thread for the screw and loctite would not dry and lock it.  Had to use medium super glue.  The polishing of the internal parts and clipping two coils off the 13lb. hammer spring made the most improvement.  Before clipping the hammer spring, it seemed the entire 7.5lb DA pull was at the initial movement of the trigger.  I haven?t measured the pull weight after clipping the spring but have run more than 600 rounds without a light strike.  Even with cci primers.

I was wondering about changing trigger the defensive package didn’t come with a trigger even though instructions for setting it were in kit. Sounds like stock trigger just as good. Kit helped but will see after shooting it more.
Thanks

The take up screw did very little, not the 5mm advertised.

Then you either measured it incorrectly or you didn't set the pre-travel properly.  I have installed several hundred and I have never seen one that did not move the trigger rearward 5 mm's with the hammer down.

If you use red loctite as we recommend in the instructions, the upper screw holds well.

If you are not seeing 5 mm's, you need to call for tech support.

I can't speak to the SRT and RRK in a 97, I converted mine to SAO. I can however testify to the improvement made by Schmeky's bushing. It took my 97 from very average(meh), to ragged one hole groups(rested) at 25yds. I can't remember what it shot at 50yds, but Schmeky doesn't over promise that's for sure.
